Groups aim to revive Bay Area tourism

It’s National Travel and Tourism week, however, planning your next trip is tricky to navigate because of the COVID.

On Thursday, the president of the American Hotel and Lodging Association stopped by San Jose and San Francisco to give confidence to the people so that they travel to the Bay Area for leisure as well as businesses trips and bring back the condition to the pre-pandemic status.

For the one coming to the Bay Area, here are the recent travel trends to keep in mind:
Almost two thirds explained that they planned on travelling during the summers, as per a survey conducted by the American Hotel and Lodging Association. These numbers are almost reviving to what they were during the pre-pandemic situation; however, it’s been quite challenging in bringing business travel back.

Even though many Americans are choosing to make their travel plans, they are skipping the Bay Area, according to President and CEO of American Hotel and Lodging Association Chip Rogers.

He says in San Jose, in 2022, leisure travel will be down by 16% and business travel will be down by more than 50%.
“Total economic activity that will be lost because those numbers aren’t back to 2019 levels is about $715 million community and that means a lot of jobs,” Rogers said.

San Jose Chamber of Commerce President Derrick Seaver joined Rogers to give confidence to the people in choosing San Jose as their travel destination and for businesses purposes and to book flights for their employees as alternative to arrange Zoom invites.

“Don’t just focus solely on productivity, but also put a focus on connectivity and the importance of getting people back out –getting individuals together,” Seaver said.
