The airport recorded a remarkable 52.7 million passengers, representing a 15% increase compared to 2023. This achievement further solidifies its status as a premier international hub. Aircraft movements rose to 279,000, a 10% increase year-on-year, while cargo volumes reached 2.6 million tonnes, marking a 12% growth. Additionally, the airport demonstrated its operational excellence by handling 41.3 million bags, reflecting a 10% improvement in baggage processing efficiency.

Middle East’s Top-Ranked Airport for Connectivity

Hamad International Airport earned the prestigious title of the Middle East’s highest-ranked airport for connectivity in the Airport Council International’s (ACI) 2024 Airport Industry Connectivity Report. Its state-of-the-art facilities and strategic partnerships have elevated its status, offering seamless travel experiences and extensive global reach.

Growth in Local Market and Tourism Collaboration

In a significant development, local passenger traffic at Hamad International grew by an impressive 16%, surpassing the growth of transfer traffic for the first time. Over 4 million travelers utilized the airport every month, with more than 12 million point-to-point passengers recorded during the year. This surge was fueled by Doha’s growing reputation as a tourist hotspot and successful joint initiatives with Qatar Tourism to attract charter services and promote the city as a destination of choice.

Expanding Airline Partnerships and Global Reach

The airport’s global network expanded to encompass 197 destinations, served by 55 airlines, including new partners such as China Southern Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Japan Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, and Akasa Air. Qatar Airways, the airport’s flagship carrier, played a pivotal role by adding new destinations like Osaka, Hamburg, Lisbon, and Toronto, further enhancing the airport’s connectivity.

Strong Growth Across Key Markets

Passenger traffic to and from China surged by an astounding 87%, underscoring the region’s importance in the airport’s growth strategy. Other Asian markets, including Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam, also showed robust growth. In Europe, mature markets like the UK, Germany, Spain, and France experienced double-digit increases, reflecting the airport’s global appeal and ability to cater to diverse travel needs.
