Flair Airlines Arrives in Puerto Plata for the First Time

Canada is receiving an even larger share of Puerto Plata’s upcoming connectivity.

Flair Airlines will add Puerto Plata to its network for the first time during the 2026–27 winter season.

The airline will initially connect the destination with two major Canadian cities.

The Montreal–Puerto Plata route begins on 18 December 2026 and will operate twice weekly.

One day later, Flair will launch Toronto–Puerto Plata on 19 December, with service operating up to twice weekly.

For Puerto Plata, Flair’s arrival adds another airline serving the Canadian leisure market and creates additional direct choices for travellers from Montreal and Toronto.

Four Canadian Cities Gain New Puerto Plata Connections

Flair’s expansion is only one part of Puerto Plata’s growing Canadian network.

AERODOM previously confirmed new services involving Air Transat and WestJet.

Air Transat will introduce a direct flight from London, Ontario, to Puerto Plata on 15 December 2026. The service will operate once weekly.

WestJet will begin Winnipeg–Puerto Plata on the same date, also with one weekly flight.

When combined with Flair’s Montreal and Toronto services, four Canadian cities gain newly announced winter links with Puerto Plata.

Panama City Flights Increase to Four Every Week

Puerto Plata’s Latin American connectivity has also strengthened through Panama.

Copa Airlines permanently increased its Panama City–Puerto Plata frequency from three to four weekly flights beginning 1 July 2026.

AERODOM says the additional service provides passengers with greater travel choice and improves opportunities to connect through Copa Airlines’ wider network across the Americas.

Together with Wingo’s new Bogotá operation, the additional Panama frequency gives Puerto Plata stronger access to Latin American markets.

Gregorio Luperón Airport Supports Northern Dominican Republic Tourism

The new routes are centred on Gregorio Luperón International Airport, identified by the airport code POP.

AERODOM describes the airport as important to tourism development in northern Dominican Republic.

Its position near Puerto Plata gives international travellers air access to the country’s north coast while also providing international connectivity for residents of Puerto Plata, Santiago and the wider Cibao region.

Official airport information shows the scale and infrastructure already supporting those operations.

Canadian travellers gain new Puerto Plata connections from Montreal, Toronto, London and Winnipeg. Colombian passengers gain the direct Bogotá service, while the additional Copa Airlines frequency strengthens connectivity through Panama City.

For residents of northern Dominican Republic, the same expansion provides additional options for travelling internationally without depending entirely on airports elsewhere in the country.

This two-way connectivity is an important part of the expansion. The new routes are intended not only to bring visitors into Puerto Plata but also to improve travel opportunities for communities across northern Dominican Republic.

Canada Becomes Central to Puerto Plata’s Winter Expansion

The distribution of new routes makes Canada particularly important to the 2026–27 expansion.

Four of the five newly announced routes involve Canadian cities.

Montreal and Toronto bring two of Canada’s largest aviation markets into Flair Airlines’ new Puerto Plata operation. London provides another Ontario connection through Air Transat, while Winnipeg extends the new network into Manitoba through WestJet.

The expansion therefore spreads Puerto Plata’s Canadian connectivity across several parts of the country rather than concentrating every new service in one city.

Colombia Adds a Wider Latin American Dimension

The Bogotá service gives the expansion a second dimension.

Wingo’s approximately 8,900 seats provide a direct bridge between Colombia and Puerto Plata during the announced October-to-January operating period.

Combined with Copa Airlines’ increased Panama City frequency, Puerto Plata’s connectivity story extends beyond its traditional winter links with Canada.

It strengthens direct and connecting travel opportunities involving Latin America and supports a more geographically diverse international network.
