Hon. Edmund Bartlett, the Tourism Minister of Jamaica, praises the Jamaica Centre of Tourism Innovation for its 94% success rate of certification this year. At the time of a mid-year performance review session for the Tourism Ministry and its public bodies, this was declared. The session was held on Friday at Sandals Royal Plantation resort in Ocho Rios.

The Minister said that the presentation of the workers of their hospitality sector in the JCTI in 2022 is extraordinary. He said that they are proud of their hospitality workers who gave importance to the certification and have performed much beyond average. It certainly shows that the JCTI keeps on being the main platform to construct a quality tourism workforce that can make a way into attractive jobs, offering honest employment, social protection, and upward social mobility.

Dr. Carey Wallace, Executive Director of the Tourism Enhancement Fund made the declaration. Wallace noted that from April to August 2022, 94% of the candidates who took part in the certification programs with the Jamaica Centre of Tourism Innovation division of TEF were effectively certified.

He also mentioned that at the time, 1262 students took part in many training programs and 1195 of them passed their exams successfully with a grade of 70% at least.

The JCTI is a division of the TEF, has been entrusted specially with assisting the growth and expansion of valuable human capital of Jamaica and supporting innovation for tourism.
