Since January, Jamaica welcomes mln visitors

Hon. Edmund Bartlett, Minister of Tourism, has recently declared that as Jamaica progresses into what is anticipated to be its most excellent summer season for the tourists ever, the island has by now greeted over two million stopover and cruise visitors since the onset of 2023.


While speaking during his Sectoral Debate yesterday, in the House of Representatives, the minister put forward essential information to help the famous post-pandemic strides being arranged in tourism.


Minister Bartlett said that by now they have welcomed 2 million stopover and cruise visitors before completing the initial six months of 2023 with record earnings of US$2 billion. It’s an enormous 18% above the earnings of 2019 for the same time frame. It should be a shock that the country is stimulating for the most excellent summer season ever.


Minister Bartlett explained that in 2022, Jamaica welcomed roughly 3.3 million visitors and registered an extraordinary US$3.7 billion revival of earnings compared to the earnings of pre-COVID times in 2019. Also, in 2023 summers, the country is witnessing a rise in air travel bookings by 33% in comparison to the summer of 2022 as per the data offered by one of the leading travel data analytics firms of the world, ForwardKeys.


Minister Bartlett added that their U.S. commitment comprised a series of meetings and talks with the prime stakeholders in tourism in the airline, cruise and tour operator sub-sectors.
