With small and medium tourism enterprises (SMTEs) making up for 80 percent of the entire tourism trade,
Hon. Edmund Bartlett, the Minister of Tourism Jamaica, said that the segment is being placed to realize the request of tourists these days.

In this respect, Minister Bartlett recognized the requirement for three elements to assist the SMTE
segment, comprising instruction to shape capability, finance for money expansion and promotion backing.

Bartlett’s comments were focussed toward 55 graduates in the third unit of learners in the Central
Jamaica Social Development Initiative (CJSDI) in the course of their graduation formality at Tropics View
Hotel.

Mr. Bartlett said that the craft worker village at the cruise ship harbor in Falmouth along with others are
being advanced with that idea in mind.

As per the tourism minister, now tourists are looking for realistic experiences more and more and considering engrossing themselves in the native lifestyle. Small businesses are nicely placed to cater to
this request by presenting bespoke trips, locally obtained yields and familiar housings that display the
destination’s right spirit.
