In spite of tough summer, Nova Scotia stays open to tourism

In spite of a tough summer in Nova Scotia, from forest fires to floods, the area stays open to tourism.

Industry specialists are of the opinion that the current climate crises have not driven away tourists. They forecast that it will be one more response season after the challenging years of the pandemic.

Many tourists have said that they kept a close guard on both events. However, it did not alter their strategies.

US resident Mark Scheumann said that he traveled to the Atlantic province from Iowa and walked along the Halifax waterside.

Discover Halifax, a marketing association publicizing the city said that the demand is high. Visitors are
coming from around Canada and even globally.

CEO Ross Jefferson said that this year they are seeing that their rooms are sold up nearly 15 per cent
compared to the year before. 2022 was a record-breaking year.

Jefferson added that hotels are in demand in the midst of the extreme weather.

The hotel community has been approachable and helpful in the community trials that they have been
facing, said Jefferson.

He is also confident for the remaining of the season, and said that many occasions are prearranged all
through the region, comprising the Halifax Busker Festival, which is probable to witness about 200,000
people in the area in the course of six days.
