IndiGo To Launch New First Commercial Flights From Noida International Airport Starting June 2026

India’s largest low-cost airline, IndiGo, is set to become the first carrier to operate commercial flights from Noida International Airport in Uttar Pradesh. Flight operations are scheduled to officially begin on June 15, 2026, marking a major development for air travel in the Delhi National Capital Region. The launch is expected to improve regional connectivity, reduce pressure on existing airports, and create new travel opportunities for domestic passengers across India.
Noida International Airport, located in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, has been developed as a major aviation hub designed to support the increasing passenger demand in northern India. The airport will work alongside Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and Hindon Airport to strengthen transportation infrastructure in the region.

Multiple Domestic Routes Planned In Initial Expansion
IndiGo has announced plans to gradually expand its operations from the new airport by introducing flights to more than 16 domestic destinations. The airline will initially focus on major metropolitan cities and important regional routes to improve connectivity for both business and leisure travelers.
Commercial services to Amritsar and Hyderabad are expected to begin on June 15, while flights to Bengaluru and Jammu are scheduled to start one day later. Additional expansion beginning in July 2026 will introduce routes connecting Noida International Airport with destinations such as Navi Mumbai, Bhopal, Dehradun, Jodhpur, Bareilly, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Jaipur, Lucknow, and Srinagar.

The new routes are expected to benefit travelers across northern India by offering more direct domestic connections and reducing travel time for passengers currently relying on Delhi’s crowded airport system.
Noida Airport Expected To Boost Regional Tourism
The opening of Noida International Airport is also expected to positively impact tourism and regional economic growth. Easier access to destinations across northern and central India may encourage increased domestic tourism, especially to cultural, religious, and hill destinations connected through the new flight network.

Tourism sectors in cities such as Jaipur, Srinagar, Dharamshala, and Amritsar could benefit from improved accessibility for travelers arriving from other parts of the country. The airport may also support business travel, trade activities, and hospitality growth across Uttar Pradesh and neighboring states.
Officials believe the airport will play an important role in strengthening India’s aviation infrastructure while supporting future tourism expansion in rapidly developing urban regions.

Airport Opens After Construction And Certification Delays
Commercial operations at Noida International Airport were originally expected to begin in late 2025. However, construction timelines and regulatory certification procedures delayed the official opening. In early May 2026, airport authorities confirmed that the airport had received approval for its Aerodrome Security Program from India’s Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, allowing commercial passenger services to proceed.
The launch of IndiGo operations will be followed by additional services from other Indian carriers, including Akasa Air and Air India Express. Aviation experts expect airline activity at the airport to increase steadily during the coming months as passenger demand grows.
The airport has been developed by Yamuna International Airport, a subsidiary associated with Zurich Airport International AG. It is considered one of India’s largest greenfield airport infrastructure projects currently in operation.
Modern Infrastructure Designed For Future Growth
Noida International Airport begins operations with a single runway and one passenger terminal capable of handling around 12 million passengers annually. However, long-term expansion plans aim to transform the airport into one of India’s largest aviation centers over the next several decades.

Future development phases are expected to increase annual passenger handling capacity to more than 70 million travelers. Additional terminals, runways, and infrastructure projects are planned as passenger traffic and airline operations continue to grow.
The airport’s strategic location near Delhi and rapidly developing urban centers in Uttar Pradesh makes it an important transportation project for both domestic and international connectivity.
Leadership Changes Ahead Of Airport Launch
Ahead of the airport’s commercial opening, management changes were also announced. In April 2026, Nitu Samra was appointed interim CEO while the airport board continues the process of selecting a permanent chief executive. She has previously served as the airport’s Chief Financial Officer since October 2021.
Former CEO Christoph Schnellmann has moved into the role of executive vice chairman as the airport prepares for full-scale operational growth.
The launch of commercial services from Noida International Airport marks a major milestone for India’s aviation and tourism sectors. With expanding domestic routes, modern infrastructure, and long-term development plans, the airport is expected to become an important gateway for travelers across the country
