ITA Airways launches direct Rome-Dakar flight starting July 3rd

ITA Airways, Italy’s flag carrier, is excited to unveil its latest direct flight offering between Rome and Dakar, set to commence on July 3rd. This service will be available four times a week according to the following schedule: From July to October, flights from Rome Fiumicino are scheduled to depart at 3:30 p.m. (local time), arriving in Senegal at 7:30 p.m. (local time). After October 27th, the flights will leave Fiumicino at 3 p.m. (local time), reaching Dakar at 8:10 p.m. (local time). Conversely, the Dakar to Rome leg will also run four times weekly. Between July and October, flights will depart from Dakar Blaise Diagne airport at 11:40 p.m. (local time), landing in Rome Fiumicino at 7:20 a.m. (local time) the next day. From October 27th, flights will leave Dakar at 11:50 p.m. (local time) and arrive in Rome at 6:25 a.m.

These services will be operational on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, utilizing the modern and eco-friendly Airbus A321neo, which stands as the pinnacle of the Airbus A320neo family in terms of size, range, and performance. The A321neo, recognized for its efficiency and reduced environmental impact, offers a significant reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by more than 20% per seat and cuts noise pollution by half compared to its predecessors. It boasts a three-class configuration – Business Class with 12 seats, Premium Economy with 12 seats, and Economy with 141 seats, including 12 Comfort Economy seats. The cabin’s design, crafted by Walter de Silva, reflects the quintessential Italian elegance and sophistication.

The launch of the Rome-Dakar route marks a significant expansion for ITA Airways, representing its second new route to the African continent for the Summer 2024 season. This addition not only provides a vital link for direct traffic but also facilitates access to further destinations within both countries, catering to both leisure and business travelers. With this new route, ITA Airways will serve 57 destinations during the 2024 summer season, encompassing 16 domestic, 26 international, and 15 intercontinental destinations. Moreover, during the summer peak, the airline will offer flights to 10 additional seasonal destinations, focusing on popular Mediterranean tourist spots like Greece, Spain, Croatia, and the Italian islands, accessible via direct flights from Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate.
