ITA Airways unveils revolutionary ‘instant upgrade’ service for seamless in-flight luxury

ITA Airways introduces “Instant Upgrade,” a novel service tailored for customers seeking a seamless online method to purchase a direct upgrade to a higher flight class. Commencing 72 hours prior to departure, existing Economy Class or Premium Economy ticket holders with ITA Airways can opt for an upgrade, accessing superior services and comforts in the Business or Premium Economy class.

Upon availability, customers receive an immediate upgrade to a higher class. On the day of departure, they obtain a boarding pass for either Premium Economy or Business Class at the check-in counter, depending on the purchased upgrade.

1. Upgrade with an offer: Through ITA Airways’ official website, customers can bid for the desired travel class (Superior, Premium Economy, or Business Class). They receive a bid receipt via email and confirmation of the successful offer within 72 hours of departure. Their ticket remains valid, and at check-in, they receive a boarding pass for the selected upgraded class.
2. Airport Upgrade: Customers also have the option to request an upgrade at the airport, from two hours to forty minutes before departure, depending on the departure country. The upgrade is subject to seat and meal availability, granted on a first-come, first-served basis, at ITA Airways’ discretion.

During the Christmas holiday period, passengers purchasing upgrades for flights between Rome Fiumicino – London Heathrow and Rome Fiumicino – Paris Charles de Gaulle routes can experience the Business cabin of the new Airbus A321neo. Notable features of the A321neo include the Airspace cabin with fresh colors and materials, cutting-edge seats, customized interior lighting by ITA Airways, and XL overhead bins. Each seat is equipped with an advanced “on-demand” video and audio entertainment system featuring 17.3” (Business), 15.6” (Premium Economy), and 13.3” (Economy) low reflectance touchscreen displays with 4K resolution, ensuring a user-friendly experience.

The innovative IFE system provides an experience akin to popular multimedia applications, offering a diverse selection of movies, TV series, music playlists, interactive games, and a 3D interactive flight map with bi-monthly programming. Passengers can connect their devices to the in-flight network via the WiFi connection system to text, browse the internet, or stream content.
