The state of Karnataka is set to showcase its tourism potential with Bidar and Udupi selected for development under the Talent-Based Destination Development Programme. This initiative is part of the larger Swadesh Darshan scheme, aimed at not only enhancing individual destinations and sites but also fostering healthy competition among states to attract more tourists by offering improved facilities and experiences.

As part of this program, the Ministry of Tourism has identified 42 destinations across India, allocating funding to support their growth. Bidar will receive ₹25 crore, while Udupi has been granted ₹10 crore to bring their plans to life.
Previously, Karnataka’s iconic destinations, Mysuru and Hampi, were chosen for development under the Swadesh Darshan scheme, underscoring the state’s commitment to elevating its status as a premier travel destination.
