In order to promote the homestay segment badly impacted by Covid, Kerala is contemplating digital marketing. Kerala is expecting an increase in the number of tourists this season, saidRiyas.

The minister also said that tourism clubs would be created in colleges for curbing dumping of waste in popular tourist destinations.

Kerala will also promote caravan tourismto discover new possibilities for tourism. The state budget has set aside Rs. 5 crorefor initiating caravan parks and inprove infrastructure. This is expected to attract visitors and ramp up investment opportunities.

The Caravan Tourism project, ‘Keravan Kerala’ was launched by the state tourism department for taking its tourism industry to the next level of growth. Caravan tourism is especially targeted toward those who are unwilling to go out and travel in a pandemic situation so they can safely travel in a caravan.

The first caravan park in Kerala has already been inaugurated at Vagamon, which is a major tourist destination in Idukki district. More caravan parks will soon take off in Marayoor and Malampuzha.
