Valued at more than Rs. 140 crore, the venture is set to turn out to be region’s biggest undertaking. Thanks to the financial support from the respected Asian Development Bank, Northeast Now reported the same.

Minister, Lyngdoh, at a recent press conference, for the project, showed his firm eagerness, highlighting it’s possibility to compel financial expansion and offer widespread opportunities related to employment in Meghalaya.

Hoping for a considerable rise in the footfall of tourists, the minister emphasized tourism’s essential role that it will play as the leading employment generating avenue in Meghalaya in the coming days.

But, with rush of visitors, at present, they make an amazing Rs 3,000 per room per day. This highlights tourism’s transformative power in the region.

Lyngdoh disclosed that his Switzerland visit was met with great expectation from the government of Switzerland. On executing the ropeway project, the swiss government had extended an invitation to work together at par with the European standards.

The choice of Switzerland was purposeful, keeping in minds its expertise in technology, resemblance in conditions related to the climate and Meghalaya’s comparable topographic features with Swiss.

Emphasizing the many-sided profits of the Shillong Ropeway project, Lyngdoh also pinpointed that it wouldn’t just improve the local financial system but will include different amenities as well, like entertainment, gaming, and park construction.

Furthermore, the project is set to give importance to inclusivity by slotting in facilities to serve disabled individuals as well.
