Revenue also rose to €991 million, up 3% from the previous year, driven by a surge in international tourists flocking to Spain. Growth in Luxury Segment

Melia’s focus on luxury accommodations has paid off. Revenue per available room (RevPAR) increased by 6% in Q2 and 4.7% in the first half of the year. Spanish hotels, particularly in Mallorca and Ibiza, outperformed the average, indicating strong demand for premium offerings.

Expansion Plans

To capitalize on the growing demand, Melia plans to invest €350 million with partners to add over 30 new hotels by 2026. At least 15 of these properties are set to open this year, primarily in Mediterranean destinations. This expansion aligns with Melia’s strategy to enhance its luxury portfolio and cater to the increasing influx of international tourists.

Challenges and Strategic Adjustments

Despite the positive outlook, Melia faces challenges in certain markets. Revenue growth in Germany, the U.S., and China was lower compared to Spain. In response, the company has maintained its 2025 forecast of single-digit growth in room revenue and continues to focus on attracting high-spending international guests.

Future Aspects: Growth, Sustainability, and Innovation

In A Nut Shell

Melia Hotels International’s powerful performance in the first half of 2025 reflects the dominance of Spain’s tourism sector. With strategic investments in luxury accommodations and a focus on high-demand destinations like Mallorca, Ibiza, Barcelona, and the Canary Islands, Melia is expected to continue its growth. The company’s ambitious expansion plans and commitment to quality service are expected to maintain its competitive position in the global hospitality market.
