In a significant enhancement to urban transportation and tourism, two air-conditioned electric buses will soon begin service between Mahesara (Mahuatad) and Nauka Vihar, passing through Gorakhnath Dharamshala and the Roadways station. Gorakhpur Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Sogarwal announced that this new initiative will expand the current Campierganj-Mahesara route to include Nauka Vihar, with the buses expected to begin operations within the next week.

The newly introduced electric buses are set to meet the rising demand for transportation to the Ramgarh Tal area, operating every 20 minutes from Mahesara depot from approximately 6pm. These buses will stop at key locations such as Gorakhnath, Dharamshala, Roadways station, and Chhatrasangh Chauraha, offering a convenient and affordable option for visitors heading to Nauka Vihar, particularly those attending the evening light shows. Ticket fares have been tentatively set, ranging from Rs 10 for stops like Chhatrasangh and Padleganj Chauraha to Rs 20 for passengers boarding at Gorakhnath and Dharamshala.

Currently, 25 electric buses are operating across various routes in Gorakhpur, serving around 12,000 passengers each day. The city has plans to expand the fleet by adding another 25 buses, with a long-term goal of deploying 100 electric buses across the city. These initiatives are aimed at improving both urban-rural connectivity and enhancing Gorakhpur’s tourism appeal, making the scenic Ramgarh Tal area more accessible for all.
