Nilgiris Hosts Grand Events to Commemorate World Tourism Day

Tourism Minister K. Ramachandran led a grand procession in Udhagamandalam, Nilgiris, to mark World Tourism Day celebrations on Friday. During the event, he emphasized the ongoing development efforts at various tourist destinations across Tamil Nadu, underscoring the government’s commitment to promoting 12 distinct tourism categories, including beach tourism, medical tourism, and rural tourism.

Later in the day, District Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru visited the Government Botanical Garden (GBG) to assess the floral displays prepared for the second tourist season in the Nilgiris.

In celebration of World Tourism Day, the Tamilnadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) and the NHRA set up a food court near the GBG, offering a variety of local flavors to visitors. Additionally, a “Bottles for Change” clean-up drive was initiated at Doddabetta Peak, organized by Bisleri International Private Limited, the Nilgiris district administration, and JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, promoting environmental awareness in the region.
