The minister has defined the goal as ambitious, but easily attainable, while stressing the introduction of a new campaign to get more air traffic from the North American country.

He said as quoted by the newspaper, Jamaica Observer that they are going to have a discussion with WestJet, Air Canada, Canada Jetlines, their new partners and also others to fortify the airlift out of Canada.

He noted that the main target for the nation by 2025 is to welcome five million visitors and make five billion dollars profit in terms of tourism revenue.

He mentioned that Canada is their third largest market, and they are just over the mark of 300,000 which signifies that they are coming close to the level that they were in 2010, when they had 400,000 visitors from that country.

He well assured everyone that the projections are based on information and there is indication of the fact that the market in Canada in the coming two years is prepared to reach half a million visitors’ mark.

The tourism minister also stressed about the growth of vacationers from Canada to attract Asian visitors.
