PCMA’s New Milestone: Neil Brownlee as the First International Chair Elect

PCMA has appointed Neil Brownlee, Head of Business Events at VisitScotland, as its first non-North American Chair Elect for 2024.

This announcement follows the approval of the 2024 Board of Directors and Trustees Slate, which was presented to PCMA members on September 1, 2023. The newly appointed Directors and Trustees will officially take office immediately after PCMA’s Convening Leaders event, scheduled from 7-10 January 2024 in San Diego, California.

Neil has thirty-five years of experience in the business events and international hospitality sector, which will be a great asset to the Chair Elect position. He has been with VisitScotland Business Events for 15 years, and part of his job involves developing and implementing a national business events strategy in close collaboration with the Scottish Government.

Alongside incoming Chair Leonard Hoops, President and CEO at Visit Indy, Neil Brownlee will be well-positioned to lead PCMA into a new era of global impact. Leonard and Neil will continue to promote economic and social transformation through business events around the world in close collaboration with the PCMA Board of Directors and Trustees, as well as with PCMA and CEMA President and CEO Sherrif Karamat, CAE, and his team.

PCMA holds a special place in Neil Brownlee’s heart, and he eagerly anticipates his active role as Chair Elect next year. He is committed to supporting his colleague and PCMA Chair, Leonard Hoops, in their efforts to advance the organization’s mission. He comments, “My experience with VisitScotland Business Events’ Policy Driven Model aligns perfectly with PCMA’s own mission, and I am excited to take on the challenge and honoured to be the organisation’s first non-north American Chair Elect.”
