Summit Hotels & Resorts is using a bold, new growth strategy in India to include spiritual journeys, secret destinations, and luxury experiences. Summit has launched three new collections aimed at reinventing the way travelers tour India, incorporating sacred getaways, offbeat Himalayan stay over retreats, and stay over luxury destinations. With this new viewing point, Summit is lining up a hospitality group that focuses on the increasing demands and preferences of modern travelers, who desire meaningful experiences in India.

The company has introduced three specialised portfolio categories — Mandir Collection, Offbeat Collection and Signature Collection — which will guide the positioning of its existing properties while also influencing future destination selection and growth plans.

The strategic shift represents a new phase for the 18-year-old hospitality group. After establishing a strong presence across Himalayan destinations and leisure markets, Summit is now moving beyond a traditional location-based expansion model and developing hospitality concepts built around the evolving motivations of travellers.

The Mandir Collection marks Summit’s move into spiritual hospitality, beginning with the upcoming Summit Salasar – The Mandir Collection in Salasar, Rajasthan. The new concept will blend comfortable stays with spiritual experiences, featuring Satvik dining options, wellness offerings and dedicated spaces designed for community gatherings and cultural engagement. Following its debut, Summit plans to expand the collection into other significant pilgrimage destinations across India.

The Offbeat Collection builds on Summit’s long-standing approach of discovering emerging destinations before they enter the mainstream tourism spotlight. The collection brings together properties located in scenic Himalayan locations away from crowded tourist routes, including Summit Enigma Resort & Spa in Lamahatta, Summit Sherpa Mountain Hotel & Spa in Deolo, Kalimpong, Summit Bougainvillea Tea Resort in Kurseong, and Summit Tashi Ghang Heritage Resort in Pelling. The company is also looking towards Samthar, a lesser-known Himalayan destination, as the next opportunity within this expansion strategy.

At the luxury end of the portfolio, the Signature Collection focuses on high-end properties where premium hospitality is deeply connected with the identity, culture and landscape of each destination. The collection currently features Summit Norbu Ghang – The Signature Collection in Gangtok and Rungkhung Village Resort – The Signature Collection in Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh, strengthening Summit’s presence in some of the most distinctive destinations of the Northeast.

Through these three collections, Summit Hotels & Resorts aims to create a more focused hospitality ecosystem that reflects changing traveller preferences, from spiritual journeys and hidden escapes to immersive luxury experiences rooted in local culture and nature.

Sumit Mitruka, CEO, Summit Hotels & Resorts, said, “India’s next hospitality opportunities will not necessarily emerge only from destinations that are already established. We see considerable potential at the intersection of changing travel motivations and destinations that are still evolving. These three collections give us a sharper framework for that growth. Mandir addresses journeys driven by faith, Offbeat allows us to identify places before they enter the mainstream, and Signature gives us a distinct premium proposition. The strategy is ultimately about being early in markets where we believe travel demand will deepen over time.”

With its new portfolio structure, Summit is shifting away from a location-driven expansion model and embracing a traveller-focused approach, where spiritual journeys, offbeat exploration and premium destination experiences become key pillars of its future growth strategy.
