In a bid to support tourism operators and communities impacted by ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper, the Qantas Group has initiated a special sale, enticing Australians to explore North Queensland. With backing from the Australian and Queensland Governments, along with Tourism and Events Queensland, Qantas is offering domestic Economy sale fares starting from $99 one-way, with discounts of up to 50%. Similarly, Jetstar’s sale fares start from as low as $79 one-way, with reductions of up to 45%.

Amidst the challenging circumstances faced by Tropical North Queensland communities and businesses during the holiday season, Qantas Chief Customer Officer Catriona Larritt emphasized the role of these discounted fares in aiding the region’s recovery. The sale encompasses flights to and from most capital cities, available for travel from mid-January to the end of March 2024.

Tourism and Events Queensland Chief Executive Officer Patricia O’Callaghan expressed enthusiasm, stating that the discounted fares are precisely what operators in North Queensland need to recover lost revenue from their peak holiday season. The fare offerings, such as $129 flights from Qantas and $79 flights with Jetstar, are positioned as attractive incentives for Australians to plan last-minute getaways before the summer school holidays conclude.

The sale covers various routes, including popular ones like Brisbane to Cairns at $99, Sydney to Cairns at $149, and Brisbane to Townsville at $159 for Qantas. Jetstar’s offerings include Brisbane to Cairns at $79, Gold Coast to Cairns at $79, and Sydney to Cairns at $109.

The sale commenced on January 5, 2024, at 00:01 am (AEDT) and will continue until 11:59 pm on January 9, 2024, for Qantas, while Jetstar’s sale ends 48 hours later. Qantas fares include perks such as checked baggage, complimentary food and beverages, free Wi-Fi, and seat selection.

As North Queensland beckons with its tropical beauty and adventure opportunities, this initiative by Qantas and Jetstar aims to not only stimulate tourism but also contribute to the region’s economic recovery.
