Qantas and Jetstar are preparing to welcome nearly four million travelers across their domestic and international routes on around 36,000 flights during the Easter period and the subsequent four-week school vacation. The Easter long weekend alone is expected to see over 670,000 passengers, marking an increase of nearly 10% compared to the Easter holidays in 2023. The busiest day is anticipated to be Easter Thursday, with over 150,000 passengers flying with the Group.
Destinations such as Auckland, Singapore, Bali, Tokyo, Gold Coast, Hobart, and Cairns are among the top picks for those taking holidays.
Enhancements to Customer Experience
Throughout the holiday season, the Qantas Group is implementing several additional measures to ensure smooth operations, including:
- Having up to 15 aircraft from Qantas and Jetstar ready as ‘operational spares’ to manage any disruptions.
- Increasing the number of backup staff and scheduling additional personnel at the busiest locations. This effort is supported by coordination with industry partners to ensure the availability of extra ground handling staff and airport security screening personnel on standby.
- Establishing dedicated maintenance teams by Qantas Engineering to amplify the maintenance of its fleet.
- Both Qantas and Jetstar continue to excel in operational performance compared to their main competitor, with a sustained focus on enhancing the customer experience.
Easter Holiday Specials
From Friday, March 29, to Monday, April 1, travelers across the Qantas network will encounter various Easter surprises, enhancing their experience at the airport, on board, and in lounges, including:
- Appearances by Qantas mascot, Matilda, and her team at Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane Domestic Airports, distributing chocolates for a ‘Hoppy Easter’ and setting up Easter-themed photo booths.
- The serving of Hot Cross Buns and mini chocolate eggs in Qantas lounges, along with limited edition Easter-themed activity packs for children.
- An array of Easter treats on Qantas flights, such as KOKO Black Milk Chocolate Eggs, Hazelnut Chocolate Bunnies, and Do Good Labs Chocolate Koalas.
- At Jetstar, young travelers can enjoy bunny ear headbands and Easter colouring packs with pencils, making their journey more enjoyable.
