The first Osaka Comedy Festival is scheduled to give foreign visitors a glimpse into Japanese style humor by having street performances, theatre performances and various entertainment plans internationally, ranging from October 10,2026 (Fri) to 12(Sun). This three day event at Namba Square and SPACE14 at Shinsaibashi PARCO is expected to be yet another novelty and will represent the new face of Japanese and foreign visitors coming to Osaka.
Hosted by Osaka Prefectural Government, Osaka City, and the Osaka Cultural Arts Project Executive Committee, this event is all about non verbal humor and would require no language comprehension on any body’s side. The whole plan will attempt to present the peculiar humor and performance culture of Osaka to the world audience following Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

The main attraction for visitors will be free street performances at Namba Square, a pedestrian area located in the heart of Osaka’s Minami district. The venue is positioned near Nankai Namba Station, offering convenient access for travellers arriving from Kansai International Airport.
The location also places visitors close to major tourist areas including Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi, making it easy to combine the festival with Osaka sightseeing.

The outdoor programme will run from 10:00 to 17:00 daily between October 10 and October 12, 2026. Visitors will be able to watch performances without admission fees.

The first official theater programsCHALLENGEdays on 10/OCT 2026, hosted by Mr Akira Ishida fromNON STYLE, a show will be consisted of nonverbal comedy, Japan’s traditional performing arts and TATE, also known as Japanese stage combat skills.
The shows will begin from 4PM and end at 8 PM and there are 6 more shows within the four-hour period. Tickets will be available on formal online platforms.
One more performance; SKIT COMEDY SHOWwill be held on 11/OCT 2026. Similar variety-style show modeled on Japan’s traditional yose performance, featuring performers in particular with skills in physical comedy and performing with English language.
Intended to be seen by Japanese visitors as well as visitors coming from overseas wanting to do something beyond normal sight-seeing in Osaka.
The festival will also connect Osaka performers with international entertainment opportunities through collaboration with Cirque du Soleil Casting.
Workshops and auditions for circus and comedy performers will be organised in Osaka before and during the festival period. Participants will have opportunities to present their skills to international industry professionals.
The Clown Workshop and Audition will be held on October 7 and 8, while the Circus Act Audition will take place on October 9, 2026.
