Saudi Arabia’s calendar is brimming with more than 17,000 events for its winter season, making it the world’s most happening winter destination. High-profile events like the F1 Grand Prix in Jeddah, the Red Sea Film Festival, and the Riyadh Season, which attracted over 12 million visitors in 2022, are pivotal in driving the kingdom’s tourism success.

These events, along with the launch of new destinations such as the arts and entertainment destination Utamo and the wellness retreat Elanan, demonstrate Saudi’s unparalleled ambition to forge a leading position in the global tourism landscape.

Saudi Arabia is setting an extraordinary pace in the global tourism industry, marking a remarkable achievement by welcoming over 100 million tourists in 2023, a milestone reached seven years ahead of schedule. This achievement was highlighted at the world’s leading travel show, ITB Berlin, where Saudi Arabia showcased its ambitious tourism sector led by His Excellency Ahmed Al-Khateeb, Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA), along with a delegation of more than 55 partners. This participation not only reflects Saudi’s tremendous growth in tourism but also its commitment to becoming a global tourism powerhouse.

Under the visionary guidance of Vision 2030, Saudi aims to elevate its tourism sector to new heights, with an increased target of 150 million tourists by 2030. The country’s presence at ITB Berlin, featuring an immersive stand complete with a full-size F1 car, a Saudi Pro League Museum, and live cultural performances, is a testament to its dynamic and diverse attractions. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen Saudi’s position among the top 10 nations in the G20 for tourism, showcasing the country as the premier choice for tourists and investors alike.

The substantial growth in Saudi’s tourism sector, achieving a full recovery post-pandemic with a 56% growth in international arrivals in 2023 compared to 2019, underscores the country’s appeal as a year-round destination. The significant investment of over $800 billion into the tourism industry, including $500 billion specifically for destination development, highlights the kingdom’s commitment to creating a wealth of investment opportunities and enriching tourist experiences.
