Spain joins Italy and others, including the UK and France, as Prague Airport offers travellers more winter flights across 145 destinations. The new programme for 2026/27 includes additional flights per week, summer services extended to winter and additional ski services. It lasts from 25 October 2026 to 27 March 2027 and contains 69 airlines and 20 destinations that are new for the previous winter. This allows more opportunities for travellers to plan city breaks and mountain holidays and for them to consult individual route schedules to determine the right time for their flight.

Prague Winter Flights 2026/27: Understand What Is New

The airport’s 22 October announcement describes several different measures of growth:

Official measureWinter programme
Destinations new compared with the previous winter20
Net increase in destinations12
Participating airlines69, four more than last winter
Forecast passenger throughputMore than 6.5 million

Twenty additions and a net increase of 12 are different measures. Some services are new to the winter comparison because they continue beyond summer.

The passenger figure remains a forecast of airport traffic. It does not represent confirmed bookings or the number of individual tourists expected to stay in Prague.

Spain, France and the UK Gain More Useful Travel Days

Smartwings plans to increase Bilbao and Toulouse services from two to three weekly flights from late October. Nice gains year-round operation with three flights weekly.

The practical benefit works in both directions. An additional Bilbao departure can help a Spanish visitor arrange a Prague break, while giving someone leaving Czechia another option for travelling to northern Spain.

For short holidays, the return day can be decisive. Another weekly departure may let you choose a different length of stay without changing destination.

Meanwhile, easyJet’s Newcastle connection continues into its first winter season. For regional UK travellers, that preserves a direct Prague option beyond the summer timetable.

Match City Breaks and Ski Holidays to the Flight Calendar

The winter network describes the whole season. Individual services follow different calendars, so an October trip and a February holiday do not offer identical choices.

These are published schedules, rather than live seat availability. Dates are in 2026 unless stated otherwise.

Route from PragueAirlineAnnounced operating pattern
Lille, FranceeasyJetFrom 28 October; Wednesday and Saturday.
Venice Marco Polo, ItalySmartwingsFrom 22 October; Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
Palermo, ItalyWizz AirLaunch announced for 6 September; four weekly flights.
Bolzano, ItalySkyAlps9 December 2026–28 March 2027; Wednesday and Sunday.
Turin, ItalyWizz Air16 January 2027 until early March; Saturday.
Poprad-Tatry, SlovakiaWizz AirFrom 25 October; Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, according to Visit Liptov.

The Wednesday/Saturday Lille pattern can support three- or four-night stays. Bolzano’s Wednesday/Sunday pattern offers similar possibilities. Wizz Air’s weekly Turin service more naturally suits whole-week trips when used in both directions. Flight times and availability still determine what works.

A Christmas traveller will see a different set of published ski services from someone planning a February trip. SkyAlps’ Bolzano window begins in December; Wizz Air’s Turin programme starts in January. Check the specific week before choosing accommodation.

Turin also has a Ryanair service listed from 19 December. Its separate schedule means “Saturday-only” should never be applied to the destination as a whole.

Bergen Needs Confirmation Before You Book

Official information gives two different Bergen start dates. Smartwings’ June announcement states 26 October 2026, while Prague Airport’s current directory shows 5 March 2027.

That difference could change an entire winter itinerary. Confirm bookable dates directly with the airline before paying for accommodation. The available sources do not establish which launch date applies.

Czechia Tourism Figures Put the Expansion in Perspective

Prague’s collective accommodation establishments recorded 3,830,576 guest arrivals during January–June 2026, up 1.2%, and 8,762,767 overnight stays, up 2.9%. However, the Czech Statistical Office recorded a 1.2% decline in arrivals during the second quarter alone.

A newer monthly comparison, published by CzechTourism’s TourData on 9 October, shows uneven demand across the four highlighted overseas markets.

Visitor marketAugust 2026 accommodation arrivals across CzechiaAnnual change
Spain32,775−11.74%
Italy48,787−0.30%
United Kingdom43,972−10.73%
France26,385−3.62%

The August figures cover the whole country and include visitors travelling by different modes. They are not Prague Airport passenger totals.

For travellers, the useful conclusion is that a wider flight network creates choice. These statistics cannot establish future hotel availability, winter booking levels or lower fares.

UK Arrivals: Allow for Terminal 1 Border Processing

Prague Airport uses Terminal 1 for non-Schengen routes, including UK services. Direct flights within Schengen, including Spain, Italy and France, use Terminal 2.

Planned Terminal 1 improvements include five additional passport-control booths and four EasyGoGate self-service gates. Completion is scheduled for the end of April 2027, after the general winter timetable ends.

The airport’s 1 October Entry/Exit System action plan reported a 60% kiosk registration completion rate, with an 80% target. That target is not a verified result.

These measures explain what the airport is working to improve. Travellers arranging onward trains or separate flights still need to allow for the complete arrival process, including baggage collection.

Prague Airport Transfers: Protect Your Time in the City

Reconstruction at the Aviatická intersection can lengthen road journeys during busy periods, according to the airport. Its guidance recommends leaving additional time or using public transport unaffected by restrictions at the construction site.

The airport lists three useful onward connections:

  • Route 59 to Nádraží Veleslavín, connecting with Metro A.
  • Route 100 to Zličín, connecting with Metro B.
  • Airport Express to Prague’s main railway station.

Check the relevant operating times against your arrival. A convenient flight becomes more useful when the onward journey also fits.

Compare the Whole Winter Holiday, Starting With the Return Flight

Compare the trip cost across the days you can actually travel. A lower flight fare may require another hotel night, a different transfer or extra time off. A higher fare with a better return time may suit your budget and leave more time at the destination. Check the complete price before deciding which option offers value.

Before committing:

  • Match the return flight to your available holiday days.
  • Compare like-for-like baggage and ski-equipment allowances.
  • Check the airport-to-resort journey separately from the flight.
  • Read the fare’s change conditions before booking fixed accommodation.
  • Count the time available at the destination, including arrival and departure days.

Choose the service that matches the holiday you can actually take. That is where a larger winter network becomes useful: more ways to reach Prague, explore European cities or plan a mountain break on dates that work.

In conclusion, Spain joins Italy and others as Prague Airport offers travellers more winter flights across 145 destinations through extra departures, services extending beyond summer and seasonal ski connections. The gain is greater freedom to shape a city break or mountain holiday around suitable travel days. Match the route’s operating dates with your return flight, accommodation and transfers, then compare the full cost. A wider network delivers its greatest value when it gives you a trip that fits your time and budget.
