Indian Railways is offering early departures for two Vande Bharat trains from Varanasi before the rush of travel in September. The changes will apply to both the Varanasi–Ranchi Vande Bharat Express and the Varanasi–Deoghar Vande Bharat Express from September 2nd, 2026, where both trains will depart Varanasi 10 minutes earlier. Indian Railways strives to give early departures for passengers with a new timetable in order to give a smooth journey during travel peaks. The changes to the timetable will only affect Varanasi departures, while the schedules to all other stations will remain unchanged.
The change applies to the departure schedule of the Varanasi–Ranchi Vande Bharat Express (20888) and the Varanasi–Deoghar Vande Bharat Express (22500). Both trains will now leave Varanasi station 10 minutes earlier than their existing timings.
Although the adjustment appears small, even a few minutes can make a major difference for passengers arriving at the station close to departure time. Travellers using these high-speed services are advised to check the updated schedule before beginning their journey.
The Varanasi–Ranchi Vande Bharat Express (20888) will operate with a revised departure time from Varanasi station starting September 2.

Previously, the semi-high-speed train departed Varanasi at 4:05 pm. Under the new schedule, the train will leave at 3:55 pm, giving passengers a 10-minute earlier departure window.
The service plays an important role in improving connectivity between eastern Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand. It provides a faster travel option for passengers travelling between Varanasi and Ranchi compared with conventional train services.
With the new timing, passengers planning to board the train from Varanasi will need to arrive earlier at the station. Those following the previous schedule may risk missing the service if they reach the platform just before the old departure time.
The Varanasi–Deoghar Vande Bharat Express (22500) will also undergo a similar timing change from September 2.

The train, which currently departs from Varanasi at 6:20 am, will now leave at 6:10 am. The revised timing is particularly important for early morning travellers who often plan their station arrival based on the previous timetable.
The route connects Varanasi with Deoghar, one of Jharkhand’s most significant religious destinations. Deoghar is widely known for the Baba Baidyanath Jyotirlinga Temple, which attracts pilgrims from different parts of India throughout the year.
The earlier departure will require passengers to plan their morning commute carefully, especially those travelling from distant areas of Varanasi or nearby districts.
Indian Railways has clarified that the adjustment will only affect the departure timings from Varanasi station. The arrival and departure schedules at subsequent stations will continue according to the existing timetable.
This means passengers boarding from other stations along the routes will not experience any change in their scheduled timings.
However, travellers beginning their journey from Varanasi must follow the updated departure schedule. The 10-minute change may appear minor, but railway journeys often depend on precise timing, particularly for premium trains with fixed schedules.
Passengers are advised to reach the station well before the revised departure time to complete platform transfers, security checks and boarding procedures comfortably.
The timing revision comes at a time when Vande Bharat Express services are becoming increasingly important for tourism, business travel and religious journeys across India.
The Varanasi–Deoghar route is especially significant for pilgrims visiting one of the country’s most respected spiritual destinations. A missed connection could affect planned temple visits, accommodation schedules and onward travel arrangements.
Similarly, the Varanasi–Ranchi service supports movement between two important cities in eastern India. The faster rail connection has improved accessibility for professionals, students and tourists travelling between Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.
As premium train services continue expanding across India, timetable adjustments are often introduced to improve operational efficiency and passenger convenience.
Travellers using these Vande Bharat Express services should verify the latest schedule before arriving at Varanasi station. Relying on previous departure times could lead to unnecessary delays or missed journeys.
Passengers should also consider reaching the station earlier than usual, particularly for the first few days after the timetable change. This will help avoid confusion and ensure a smooth boarding experience.
The revised schedules highlight the importance of staying updated with official railway announcements, especially when travelling on high-speed services where departure timings are strictly maintained.
With Vande Bharat trains becoming a major part of India’s modern railway network, even small timetable changes require careful attention from passengers planning their journeys.
Indian Railways has scheduled two more Vande Bharat Express trains before anticipated travel in September. The departure timings of trains to Ranchi and Deoghar, both departing from Varanasi, will be changed starting on September 2, 2026.
