Tourism Australia anticipates to welcome more Chinese tourists

After welcoming a constantly increasing number of tourists from China since the initial months of this year, the top tourism body of Australia is optimistic about an additional boost coming from China, its number one market, especially after the country unveiled the news of the recommencement of group tours to numerous destinations overseas.

Phillipa Harrison, Managing Director of Tourism, said that they are happy to see that travelers from China have been slowly coming back to Australia since the onset of the year and can’t wait to welcome more people from China in the coming months and years.

Various Chinese travel agencies and online tourism service providers from Aug. 10 th , in China have been allowed to resume offering group tours to a lengthier list of regions and countries, like Britain, Japan, the United States and Australia.

Harrison considered the return of group travelers from China as good news for the tourism industry of Australia which would help in supporting the continuing retrieval of the visitor economy of the country.

She said that since the start of 2023, Chinese travelers have been coming back to Australia and the reappearance of the group travel section will offer yet another important boost up.

Until pandemic broke, tourism had been a prime industry of Australia.
