Jordan

Jordan’s traditional inheritance comprises more than 100,000 archaeological places, UNESCO World Heritage Sites and religious places of interest.

Jordan is also a frontrunner in medical tourism.

Before the pandemic, Jordan witnessed 250,000 patients from abroad, adding to more than USD 1 billion in incomes every year. Similarly, spa and wellness facilities have thrived on the Dead Sea shores.

The tourism segment plays a vital part in Jordan’s economy.

As per latest obtainable data, the tourism segment recovered from the slump due to the pandemic, contributing to 10-13 percent of Jordan’s 2022 GDP, fetching USD 5.8 billion.

According to the first quarter of this year, incomes already witnessed 88 percent growth compared to the equivalent time last year.

Considering arrival of visitors, Jordan witnessed 5.05 million travelers last year, which was twice the amount of entrances in 2021.

This year looks hopeful too, with 2.48 million tourists since May, registering an extraordinary 69 percent development equated to the similar time last year and exceeding the figures before the pandemic.

The upsurge in visit has reached extraordinary levels. There are predictions that Petra is expected to witness 1.6 million travelers by the end of this year.

Furthermore, Jordan is expected to see further 10-15 percent of travellers compared to 2019.
