Porter Airlines is boosting Canada’s air connectivity with five new year‑round routes from London International Airport to Vancouver, Montreal, Edmonton, Halifax and Ottawa. Porter Airlines will launch these routes in spring 2027. Porter Airlines will strengthen coast‑to‑coast connections across the country. Porter Airlines will give travellers from Southwestern Ontario nonstop access to major business and leisure destinations.

The expansion strengthens London’s position within Porter’s Canadian network while giving local passengers more opportunities to avoid connecting flights or lengthy journeys to larger airports.

Four routes will begin on 12 April 2027, followed by Edmonton on 6 May 2027. Every destination will receive at least daily service at peak periods, while Ottawa and Montreal will see considerably higher frequencies.

Five New Routes Connect London Across Canada

Porter’s expansion stretches from Atlantic Canada to the Pacific coast, creating a more geographically diverse network from London.

The airline will launch nonstop flights from London to Halifax and Vancouver on 12 April 2027. Halifax will receive up to seven weekly flights, while Vancouver will have as many as 11 services each week.

Edmonton flights begin on 6 May, operating up to seven times weekly.

Ottawa and Montreal Metropolitan Airport will receive the most frequent services, with each route operating as many as 20 flights per week.

This means travellers will have access to major Canadian business, government and leisure destinations without first connecting through another airport.

Ottawa and Montreal Gain High-Frequency Connections

The Ottawa and Montreal routes could prove particularly valuable for business travellers.

Both destinations will receive up to 20 weekly services, allowing Porter to operate as many as three daily round trips during peak periods.

The frequency could make same-day business journeys more practical, depending on individual flight schedules. Travellers could potentially leave London in the morning, conduct meetings in Ottawa or Montreal and return later the same day.

Montreal flights will operate to Montreal Metropolitan Airport (MET/YHU). Located around 30 minutes from downtown Montreal, the airport is designed to provide a streamlined passenger experience with an easy-to-navigate terminal and premium waiting lounge environment.

Vancouver, Edmonton and Halifax Broaden London’s Reach

The Vancouver route represents an important addition because it gives London passengers a direct link with Canada’s Pacific coast.

With up to 11 weekly flights, passengers will have more flexibility than a basic once-daily schedule during peak periods.

Edmonton provides another direct connection with Western Canada, supporting business travel, tourism and visits to friends and relatives.

To the east, daily Halifax flights establish a direct link with Atlantic Canada. Halifax is both a major tourism destination and an important gateway for travel across Nova Scotia and the wider Atlantic region.

Together, these three longer-distance routes significantly expand the geographical reach available directly from London.

Embraer E195-E2 and Dash 8-400 Aircraft Will Operate Flights

Porter will use two aircraft types across the five routes.

Flights to Vancouver, Edmonton and Halifax will operate using the 132-seat Embraer E195-E2, while Ottawa and Montreal services will use the 78-seat De Havilland Dash 8-400.

Neither aircraft has middle seats, providing passengers with either a window or aisle seat.

Passengers travelling aboard the E195-E2 will also have access to complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, which can be particularly useful on longer journeys such as London-Vancouver.

Porter’s regular onboard service includes complimentary snacks, beer and wine.

The product includes extra-legroom seating at the front of the cabin, dedicated check-in and boarding and two checked bags. Complimentary fresh meals and premium cocktails are also available on eligible longer flights.

Alternatively, PorterClassic allows travellers to select a base travel experience and add additional services according to their individual requirements.

The combination gives passengers greater flexibility when choosing between price and additional travel benefits.

Expansion Builds on London’s New Winter Sun Network

The five domestic routes follow another expansion by Porter from London involving four services to winter sun destinations in Florida, Mexico and Jamaica.

Together, the announcements create a broader mix of year-round Canadian connectivity and seasonal international leisure travel.

The strategy could help London International Airport attract passengers who might otherwise begin their journeys at larger airports elsewhere in Ontario.

For Southwestern Ontario residents, having more nonstop flights closer to home can reduce ground travel and simplify the overall journey.

What Travellers Need to Know

Passengers planning trips from London in 2027 should pay close attention to launch dates and frequencies.

Vancouver, Halifax, Ottawa and Montreal begin on 12 April, while Edmonton starts on 6 May. Frequencies listed by Porter represent peak schedules and may vary depending on the travel period.

Montreal passengers should also remember that flights will use Montreal Metropolitan Airport rather than Montréal-Trudeau International Airport.

With direct flights stretching from Halifax to Vancouver, Porter’s expansion marks an important development for London International Airport. The five routes give Southwestern Ontario travellers more opportunities to fly locally while strengthening London’s direct links with major Canadian economic, political and tourism centres.
