Virgin Australia has welcomed a new aircraft fleet to its Brisbane Hangar as it also prepares for a $110 million upgrade across its existing Boeing 737 planes.
The new 737-8 planes will feature a host of new amenities and modern upgrades such as in-seat power for all business and economy seats, a new economy seat design and wider business class seats with extendable footrests and water bottle holders.
Both the economy and business class seats will also feature a new personal device or tablet holder.
In welcome news to travellers, the aircraft will also include larger overhead lockers with the capacity to stow up to 50 per cent more carry-on baggage.
The airline has also announced the rest of its Boeing 737 fleet will undergo a major upgrade worth $110 million over the next two years.
Virgin Australia Group chief executive Jayne Hrdlicka said the introduction of the new Boeing 737-8 aircraft into the fleet was a “milestone” occasion for the airline.
