The 23rd Global Summit of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), set to take place from November 1st to 3rd in Kigali, promises to be a momentous event with an impressive lineup of speakers and dignitaries.

One of the standout speakers is Ivorian footballing legend Didier Drogba, renowned as one of Africa’s greatest football players.

Drogba, the all-time top scorer and former captain of the Ivory Coast national team, will share his experiences growing up in West Africa and his ongoing efforts for social progress, highlighting the diverse talents and influence of athletes beyond the field.

In addition to Drogba, the summit will feature three Heads of State and a Vice-President, emphasizing the global importance of the travel and tourism sector. Notable keynote speakers include global economist Justin Urquhart-Stewart, David P. Pekoske, Administrator of the United States Transport Security Administration, and Juliet Slot, Chief Commercial Officer at Arsenal Football Club.

The theme of the summit, “Building Bridges to a Sustainable Future,” underscores the sector’s significance in terms of its impact on the planet and global communities. Business leaders from around the world will convene to discuss strategies for ensuring the sector’s resilience, inclusivity, and sustainability.

The event will also host industry leaders, government officials, and dignitaries from various countries, such as South Africa, Tanzania, and Ukraine, who will collaborate to support the recovery of the travel and tourism industry and address the challenges it faces in building a safer, more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable future. This marks the first WTTC Global Summit to be held on the African continent, and Rwanda’s dedication to the sector’s resurgence positions the nation as an emerging tourism hotspot. The event serves as a platform for meaningful discussions on the future of global travel and tourism.
