A major change in the Allegiant Air passenger experience is being prepared as Allegiant First premium seating is scheduled to be introduced on selected aircraft from spring 2027. Greater comfort will be provided through wider spacing, deeper recline, priority airport services and an inclusive baggage allowance, while complimentary beverages will be served across all Allegiant flights from 1 August 2026.

The development represents an important expansion of choice for leisure travellers using the airline’s network. Although Allegiant Air has traditionally been associated with affordable, unbundled travel, a more refined option will now be made available to passengers who are willing to pay for additional space, convenience and onboard comfort.

Premium Comfort Will Be Introduced Without Replacing Allegiant Extra

Allegiant First will not be used as a replacement for Allegiant Extra. Instead, the two products will be offered alongside one another, enabling several comfort levels to be selected.

Allegiant Extra is already provided on selected flights and routes. Seven additional inches of legroom, priority check-in and boarding, reserved overhead-bin space and faster disembarkation are currently included with that product.

A different and more elevated experience will be created through Allegiant First. Dedicated seats, a two-by-two arrangement, enhanced amenities and upgraded service features will be combined in the new category. The addition will therefore broaden the airline’s premium portfolio rather than remove an existing choice.

More flexibility could consequently be gained by passengers. Standard seating could still be selected by travellers focused primarily on price. Allegiant Extra could be chosen when extra space and airport convenience are required. Allegiant First could be booked when a more complete premium journey is preferred.

Priority Airport Access Will Be Included

The premium experience will not be limited to the aircraft cabin. Priority access to check-in and boarding will also be included with an Allegiant First fare.

Through these benefits, less time could be spent waiting in general airport queues. Earlier boarding may also make cabin entry easier, particularly for passengers carrying hand luggage or travelling during busy holiday periods.

A faster airport experience is frequently valued by leisure travellers because disruption and stress can be encountered before a flight has even departed. By including priority services within the fare, a smoother transition from the terminal to the aircraft will be supported.

Because the eight seats will be located at the front, quicker disembarkation could also be experienced after arrival. Although a separate arrival service has not been announced, the location of the seats should naturally allow Allegiant First passengers to leave the aircraft before most of the main cabin.

Selected Flights Will Receive Allegiant First in Spring 2027

The first Allegiant First flights are expected to be operated in spring 2027. A phased introduction will be completed across selected aircraft rather than the entire fleet being converted immediately.

The seats are anticipated to be placed on sale in mid-August, although detailed aircraft assignments, routes and onboard features have not yet been published. Further information is expected to be released later in 2026.

Until those deployment plans are confirmed, travellers should not assume that Allegiant First will be available on every service or from every airport. Availability will depend on the aircraft operating a particular route and on the progress of the installation programme.

Passengers interested in booking the new product will need to examine the seating options shown during the reservation process. Route announcements and aircraft details will also need to be monitored once additional information is released.

Leisure Travel Will Remain at the Centre of the Strategy

The announcement has been made as Allegiant and Sun Country are being brought together under a wider integration strategy. Approximately 22 million annual customers are served across scheduled passenger, charter and cargo operations through Allegiant Air and Sun Country Airlines. More than 650 routes are operated to nearly 175 cities across the United States and selected international destinations.

Both airlines are currently being operated independently while their integration is continued. Existing flights, schedules and policies remain unchanged, and passengers are still required to manage reservations through the airline with which the booking was made.

Allegiant First and the complimentary beverage programme are expected to support greater consistency in future onboard offerings. A wider range of leisure travellers could also be served, from budget-conscious passengers seeking a low base fare to holidaymakers prepared to spend more for a refined experience.

What the Development Means for Travellers

Greater choice will be created by the arrival of Allegiant First. Travellers will no longer be restricted to choosing between standard seating and an extra-legroom upgrade on participating aircraft. A cabin-style premium alternative will also be available.

A more comfortable journey could be experienced through the 37-inch pitch, five-inch recline, calf rests and adjustable headrests. Airport movement could be simplified through priority check-in and boarding. Holiday packing could become easier because personal, cabin and checked baggage will be included.

However, important details remain outstanding. Ticket prices, launch routes, participating aircraft and the full list of enhanced amenities have not yet been confirmed. The value of Allegiant First can therefore only be assessed fully after those details have been released.

For now, a meaningful evolution of Allegiant Air’s leisure proposition has been signalled. Low-cost travel will continue to be offered, but a more comfortable and inclusive option will soon be placed at the front of selected aircraft.
