Global Sustainability Tourism has been launched this week by Mabrian Technologies (a leading provider of travel intelligence) at the Tourism Innovation Summit (TIS).
It allows a destination to measure, compare and follow those factors that indicate sustainability for a destination.
Six indices are grouped together by the concept and related to sustainability formed by more than 20 different indicators.
These indices help destinations to measure aspects like the level of distribution of tourism income in the local economy, the concentration of the tourism offering in the locality, dependence on long-haul source markets, excessive seasonality or perception that visitors have about the sustainability of destination on others.
Director of sales and marketing, Carlos Cendra said, sustainability needs to be the cornerstone of the reactivation of tourism under a model that is more aware of the issue.
Collaboration with partner Mastercard, Mabrian developed a dashboard of indicators on tourism sustainability depending on the observation of global data, that can be tracked and corroborated in a stable manner over time.
It complements a wide range of tourism indices which includes tourist products, perceived security and climate, Hotel satisfaction and perception of global tourism.
The founder of Etico, Laura Garrido said that tourism destination is to understand and monitor the indicators that affect sustainability. They can plan adequate actions for the Sustainable transformation of the destination only through data and their correct analysis.
Operation Director of Mabrian, Alex Villeyra presented the dashboard at 1 pm CET in the main auditorium of the Tourism Innovation Summit (TIS) on 10th Nov.
