Spain Travel Revolution Begins As easyJet Unlocks New UK Connections To Girona Holiday Hotspots Now British travellers will have more options to explore Spain in summer 2027 as easyJet expands its UK network with six new routes connecting airports across Britain with major Spanish destinations. The new services will introduce direct links to historic cities, Mediterranean islands and coastal regions, creating more opportunities for affordable European holidays.
The low-cost airline is adding Girona to its network for the first time, opening new connections from Liverpool and London Gatwick to one of Catalonia’s most attractive historic destinations. The move will give travellers easier access to Girona’s cultural heritage as well as the famous Costa Brava coastline.
The new Liverpool to Girona route will begin on 28 March 2027, with flights operating twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays. A second service from London Gatwick to Girona will launch on 3 June 2027, offering flights three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
Girona sits in north-eastern Spain, in the heart of Catalonia, and is recognised for its historic charm, medieval architecture and centuries-old streets. The city’s preserved old quarter, ancient defensive walls and colourful riverside houses make it an attractive destination for visitors seeking experiences beyond Spain’s traditional beach resorts.

The new easyJet connection also creates a convenient gateway to the wider Costa Brava region. Travellers can reach popular coastal towns, beaches and seaside resorts from Girona Airport, while Barcelona remains within easy reach, located around an hour away by bus.
For budget-conscious visitors, the new routes provide another travel option for exploring Catalonia without relying only on Barcelona’s main airport. The connection could help spread tourism demand across different destinations while offering more flexibility for holiday planning.

New UK Routes Strengthen Spain Holiday Connections
Alongside the Girona launch, easyJet is introducing additional services from several UK airports to other Spanish destinations.
Aberdeen Airport will receive two new routes, connecting the Scottish city with Barcelona and Mallorca. The Aberdeen to Barcelona service will begin on 31 March 2027, creating a direct link between Scotland and the Catalan capital.
The airline will become the only carrier offering a direct Aberdeen-Barcelona connection, providing travellers with a new option for city breaks, business trips and leisure journeys.
Another new Aberdeen service to Mallorca will start on 3 May 2027. The route will give Scottish holidaymakers direct access to one of Spain’s most popular Mediterranean islands, known for its beaches, landscapes and coastal attractions.
Liverpool Airport will also gain a new connection to Murcia from 29 March 2027. Operating twice weekly, the service will provide travellers with access to Spain’s southeastern region, offering opportunities to explore historic towns, countryside areas and the Costa Cálida coastline.
Meanwhile, Edinburgh Airport will welcome a new route to Bilbao from 30 March 2027. The twice-weekly service will connect Scottish travellers with northern Spain’s cultural centre, famous for its architecture, food scene and access to the Basque region.

easyJet Expands Summer 2027 Network Across Europe
The six new Spain routes are part of a larger summer 2027 expansion by easyJet, which includes 18 new connections from airports across the United Kingdom.
The wider programme will increase links between British airports and destinations across Europe, including France, Italy, Germany, Greece, Cyprus, Montenegro and Bulgaria.
The expansion reflects continued demand from travellers looking for affordable international breaks and more direct flight options from regional airports. By adding routes from cities such as Aberdeen, Liverpool and Edinburgh, easyJet is strengthening connections outside London and giving more passengers access to European destinations closer to home.
The airline has placed the new routes on sale, with fares starting from £35 (€40) one way. Holiday packages are also available across all newly introduced services, allowing customers to combine flights and accommodation when planning their trips.
With new access to Girona, Barcelona, Mallorca, Murcia and Bilbao, the summer 2027 schedule will provide British travellers with a wider choice of Spanish destinations, combining historic cities, coastal escapes and island holidays through direct connections from UK airports.
