Nepal is gearing up to boost adventure tourism as Resunga’s zipline and sky cycling are near launch after final testing.

Nepal is set to enhance its adventure tourism offerings as new adventure activities of 568-metre zipline and 110-metre sky cycling are on the verge of regular operations after successful final tests were conducted at one of the important tourist places Gargura in Resunga.

Developed by an initiative of the Resunga Municipality, the adventure activities have taken the place in the district of Gulmi. According to the municipality, regular operations are expected to start within the coming week, which is set to add a new feature to the existing natural, historical and religious tourism of the area.

Resunga Moves Closer to a New Adventure Tourism Chapter

The successful completion of final testing marks an important stage for the tourism infrastructure project. The two facilities were developed to broaden the range of experiences available to visitors and strengthen Resunga’s position as a destination combining scenery, heritage and outdoor adventure.

Around 40 people took part directly in the testing of the zipline and sky cycling facilities. The trials were used to assess the infrastructure before regular public services begin. With testing completed successfully, the project has moved from construction and trials towards routine operation.

The municipality plans to manage and coordinate the facilities during the initial operational period, allowing local authorities to oversee the launch as the attractions begin receiving visitors.

A 568-Metre Zipline Adds a Fast-Paced Tourism Experience

The centrepiece of the development is the 568-metre zipline. During testing, the full journey was completed in about 58 seconds. The ride gives visitors a short adventure experience while opening up views across the surrounding landscape.

For Resunga, the zipline adds an attraction that differs from the destination’s traditional sightseeing and religious tourism activities. It gives visitors another reason to spend time in the area and creates an activity that can be combined with nearby natural and heritage locations.

Sky Cycling Brings Another Outdoor Attraction to Gargura

Alongside the zipline, the project includes a 110-metre sky cycling facility. This expands the adventure offering by giving visitors another elevated outdoor activity in the same tourism area.

The combination of zip lining and sky cycling is expected to make Gargura more attractive to travellers looking for active experiences rather than sightseeing alone. Visitors can combine the two adventure activities with the broader tourism assets around Resunga.

The facilities give the destination a more diversified tourism product. Instead of relying only on viewpoints, religious sites and natural surroundings, Resunga can now offer an organised adventure component that may appeal to younger travellers, groups, families and domestic visitors seeking short recreational experiences.

Regular Services Expected to Begin Soon

Following the successful trials, preparations for regular operations have been completed. The municipality expects services to begin within the next week.

The initial management model will place responsibility for the zipline and sky cycling directly with the municipality. Local authorities will coordinate the facilities as they move into regular use.

Pricing has also been established ahead of the launch. The fee for the zipline has been set at Rs 600 per ride, while the sky cycling experience will cost Rs 400.

Resunga’s 2,300-Metre Setting Strengthens the Experience

Resunga is situated at around 2,300 metres above sea level, giving the destination a naturally elevated setting suited to scenic tourism. From the area, visitors can observe extensive mountain and hill landscapes, including views towards Machhapuchhre and Dhaulagiri.

These surroundings are central to the appeal of the new adventure infrastructure. The zipline and sky cycling are not isolated recreational installations. Their tourism value is closely connected to Resunga’s altitude, open views and natural environment.

The attractions therefore add an activity-based layer to a destination already known for scenery. Travellers can experience the landscape from an elevated adventure setting while exploring the wider Resunga area.

Historical and Religious Attractions Add Depth to a Resunga Trip

Resunga’s tourism offer extends beyond mountain views and adventure activities. Several historical and religious sites can be reached within a short distance of Resunga Park, allowing visitors to combine different forms of tourism during one journey.

These sites include Resunga Yagyashala, Mahapokhari, Siddhasthan, Ramkua, Bishnupaduka and Saune. Together, they contribute to the cultural and spiritual character of the area and provide additional stops for visitors travelling through Resunga.

The arrival of the zipline and sky cycling can complement these established attractions. Adventure travellers may explore the area’s cultural sites, while visitors arriving for religious or scenic purposes may add an adventure activity to their itinerary.

Delayed Project Finally Reaches Operational Stage

The project was developed under a construction agreement worth approximately Rs 1.25 crore. However, progress was affected by several problems, causing the project to remain stalled for an extended period.

Although construction work had been completed, final testing remained unfinished. This outstanding stage prevented the project from moving into full operation and resulted in payments being withheld.

Successful completion of the tests has now cleared a major remaining barrier. With trials concluded, preparations for operation are complete and the infrastructure is positioned to begin serving visitors.

The transition from a delayed construction project to an operational tourism attraction is significant for Resunga because infrastructure creates tourism value only when travellers can use it regularly. Consistent operation will therefore be the key next stage.

Adventure Tourism Could Support Longer and More Diverse Visits

The new facilities arrive as Gulmi attracts domestic and international visitors. Adding organised adventure activities can help the district expand beyond conventional sightseeing and create a wider mix of experiences.

For travellers, a Resunga trip can now include panoramic scenery, religious heritage, historical locations and adventure activities within the same destination. Such variety may encourage visitors to explore more of the area rather than making only a brief stop.

A New Tourism Dimension for Resunga and Gulmi

The completion of the zipline and sky cycling facilities marks a fresh stage in Resunga’s tourism development. The project brings together a 568-metre zipline, a 110-metre sky cycling route, visitor pricing and a high-altitude setting surrounded by notable mountain views.

More importantly, the infrastructure adds a new experience to a destination that already has strong natural, historical and religious characteristics. As regular operations begin, the facilities are expected to broaden Resunga’s appeal and provide visitors with additional reasons to include the area in their travel plans.

Nepal is powering up adventure tourism growth as Resunga’s new zipline and sky cycling prepare for regular operations after successful final testing. The new facilities are set to expand visitor experiences by combining adventure activities with Resunga’s mountain scenery and tourism attractions.

For Gulmi district, the project represents an effort to turn growing visitor interest into a more diverse tourism economy. If regular operations are maintained effectively, the adventure facilities can become an additional attraction within the district’s wider tourism landscape and help Resunga build stronger recognition as a destination where nature, heritage and adventure meet.
