Akasa Air Takes a Giant Leap in India’s Aviation Sector with New Destinations, More Flights and Stronger Domestic Connectivity

Akasa Air, one of India’s fastest-expanding airlines, has unveiled a major expansion of its route network, introducing new connections and increasing flight frequencies on important domestic routes. The latest development reflects the airline’s strategy to strengthen its presence across India while providing passengers with more travel options, improved accessibility, greater flexibility and seamless connectivity between key destinations.
Anand Srinivasan, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer, Akasa Air, said “When we launched Akasa Air four years ago, we saw a compelling opportunity to build a meaningful airline in one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets. The scale and depth of our network today reflect the deliberate choices we have made by building greater frequency in markets where demand is deepening, strengthening links between major economic centres and emerging destinations, and progressively expanding our international footprint. Our approach goes beyond adding capacity; it is about making travel more relevant and rewarding through better schedules, greater choice, and a flying experience that is warm, dependable and distinctly Akasa. As we scale, we remain focused on combining disciplined growth with service excellence, while building an experience-led carrier that plays an integral role in India’s aviation growth story.”

East India: Kolkata Gains 95 Weekly Departures and a New Crew Base
Akasa Air is strengthening its presence in Eastern India through a substantial expansion of services from Kolkata. The airline now offers 95 weekly departures from the city, connecting passengers directly to eight destinations.
Alongside the increased flight schedule, Akasa Air has established a crew base in Kolkata to support its expanding operations. This operational development provides additional infrastructure for managing the airline’s growing services from the city.
The increased capacity and establishment of a dedicated crew base underline Kolkata’s growing importance within Akasa Air’s network. These measures also create opportunities for further development across Eastern India while improving travel options for passengers using Kolkata as a departure point.
Major Metro Routes: Higher Flight Frequencies Deliver Greater Travel Flexibility
Akasa Air is also adding capacity across several of India’s busiest metropolitan travel corridors, responding to demand for more frequent connections between major business and tourism centres.

These schedules provide greater flexibility for corporate travellers planning time-sensitive journeys and leisure passengers seeking convenient departure options. By increasing frequencies on established routes, the airline is improving the range of travel choices available between India’s leading metropolitan centres.
Akasa Air’s Expanding Network Supports Its Long-Term Growth Strategy
The latest route additions, frequency increases and operational developments demonstrate Akasa Air’s continued efforts to build a wider and more connected aviation network.
By strengthening services from Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata while expanding access to cities such as Jaipur, Udaipur, Chandigarh and Kozhikode, the airline is developing connections across both established and emerging travel markets.
Its growing international network, supported by services from Bengaluru to Abu Dhabi, Phuket and Jeddah, further complements its domestic expansion. Together, these developments reflect Akasa Air’s strategy of increasing network coverage, strengthening regional accessibility and offering passengers a broader selection of domestic and international travel opportunities.
