Embraer has achieved another milestone for its E-Jet E2 programme after the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approved the company’s Runway Overrun Awareness and Alerting System (ROAAS). The certification allows airlines operating the E-Jet E2 across Europe and other EASA-recognising markets to adopt a technology developed to improve landing safety and reduce the likelihood of runway overruns.
The approval follows an earlier certification issued by Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), extending the availability of the system beyond the manufacturer’s home market. With two major aviation regulators now authorising the technology, Embraer is broadening access to one of its latest flight safety innovations while reinforcing the E2 family’s position in the regional aircraft segment.
The announcement comes as airlines continue investing in aircraft equipped with advanced digital systems that enhance operational safety without changing established cockpit procedures. Modern flight decks increasingly rely on predictive technologies capable of identifying potential risks before they develop into operational incidents, particularly during landing when flight crews manage multiple variables simultaneously.

Alongside the certification announcement, Embraer published its latest Commercial Market Outlook, outlining expected demand for aircraft with fewer than 150 seats over the next two decades.
The report projects that airlines will require approximately 8,500 aircraft in this category by 2045, representing an estimated market opportunity worth USD 650 billion.
According to the forecast, regional aviation will continue expanding as airlines increase frequencies, develop point-to-point services and improve connections between secondary cities.
The report also evaluates developments within the standard-body cargo aircraft market below 40 tonnes, reflecting growing demand for efficient freight operations linked to changing global trade patterns and supply chain networks.
Worldwide passenger demand is forecast to maintain long-term growth, with global Revenue Passenger Kilometres expected to increase by an average of 3.7 percent annually through 2045.
China is projected to remain the fastest-growing aviation market, recording annual traffic growth of 5.2 percent.
The Middle East is forecast to grow by 4.6 percent each year, followed by Africa at 4.4 percent, Latin America and the Caribbean at 4.3 percent and the Asia Pacific region at 4.1 percent.
Europe is expected to achieve annual growth of 2.7 percent, while North America is forecast to expand by 2.0 percent over the same period.
By the end of the forecast horizon, Asia Pacific and China together are expected to account for approximately 40 percent of global passenger traffic, surpassing the combined share of Europe and North America, which is projected to stand at around 37 percent.
North America is forecast to remain the largest destination for new regional aircraft deliveries, accounting for approximately 2,670 aircraft over the next twenty years.
Europe and the CIS are expected to receive around 1,870 aircraft, while China is projected to require approximately 1,470 new deliveries.
The Asia Pacific region is forecast to add around 1,050 aircraft, followed by Latin America with approximately 740 aircraft.
Africa and the Middle East are each expected to account for more than 300 deliveries as regional aviation infrastructure and passenger demand continue expanding.
The forecast suggests that airlines will increasingly rely on fuel-efficient aircraft capable of serving regional routes, connecting smaller cities and supporting higher-frequency operations without requiring the capacity of larger narrowbody aircraft.
By combining advanced safety innovations with a positive long-term market outlook, Embraer continues strengthening the E-Jet E2 programme for airlines seeking greater operational efficiency, enhanced flight safety and flexibility in rapidly evolving regional aviation markets.
