Bengaluru Gains a New Direct Gateway to Switzerland

SWISS says the service is designed to meet demand from business travellers, technology-sector passengers, premium leisure customers and the Indian diaspora across Europe and beyond.

For leisure travellers, the nonstop link creates additional capacity between southern India and Switzerland. Zurich can also serve as a starting point for wider Swiss itineraries and onward European journeys.

Zurich Opens More Europe and North America Connections

Passengers arriving in Zurich will be able to connect through the SWISS and Lufthansa Group network.

The airline specifically highlights onward access across Europe and North America. This gives Bengaluru travellers another international routing option beyond existing Lufthansa Group services through Frankfurt and Munich.

Zurich therefore becomes the third major Lufthansa Group gateway linked with Bengaluru.

Bengaluru Airport Extends the Route Beyond One City

Bangalore International Airport Limited says Bengaluru Airport’s domestic network spans 78 destinations.

According to the airport, this network can support single-ticket transfers for passengers travelling from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in India before connecting to the new Zurich service.

This means the route can potentially serve travellers from a much wider part of India rather than Bengaluru alone.

Business and Technology Travel Drive Route Demand

The route also creates a direct connection between Bengaluru, one of India’s leading technology centres, and Zurich, a major international financial and business hub.

Lufthansa Group says India remains a strategically important market, while Bengaluru continues to show strong long-term potential.

The new service therefore targets both corporate demand and leisure travel, giving technology-sector professionals and business travellers another direct link with Europe.

Premium Travellers Get First Class on Every Flight

SWISS says First Class will be available on every Bengaluru–Zurich flight.

The service will also offer Business Class and Economy Class, alongside access to premium lounges, Swiss onboard cuisine and connections through Zurich Airport.

That gives the route a clear premium-tourism angle for high-value leisure and corporate travellers seeking a full-service long-haul product.

Lufthansa Group Expands Its India Network

The Bengaluru launch forms part of the Lufthansa Group’s wider expansion in India.

The Group says it will operate more than 70 weekly flights in its Winter 2026 schedule.

With Bengaluru linked to Zurich alongside Frankfurt and Munich, southern Indian travellers gain a broader choice of gateways into Europe.
