On December 19th, over 140 AEGEAN employee-volunteers embarked on a collective journey to 8 different Greek destinations, where they visited 17 institutions dedicated to child protection and elderly care. Their mission involved distributing gifts and engaging in artistic activities inspired by the Foundation’s art collection, fostering creativity and connection during the festive season.
Known as the “AEGEAN Santa Crew,” these volunteers made stops at various locations, including the “Melissa” Orphanage for Girls and the Greek Children’s Village “Filiro” in Thessaloniki, as well as the “SOS Children’s Villages,” “Palagia Primary School,” and “Ioakimio Ecclesiastical Nursing Home” in Alexandroupolis. Their itinerary also included visits to places like the Ark of the World in Konitsa, the Dementia Day Centre in Ioannina, and other care centers and orphanages in different cities across Greece.
Under the guidance of the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation’s educational team and the Thallo program by the seveneleven organization, the volunteers organized interactive Christmas-themed activities. These activities aimed to entertain and infuse the holiday spirit into both children and elderly individuals.
Prepared with care and personalized messages, the gifts distributed during these visits were curated by AEGEAN’s volunteer team beforehand. This annual initiative, carried out for the third consecutive year, sought to spread love and joy while allowing children and elderly individuals to express themselves through art.
The success of this heartwarming endeavor was made possible by the enthusiastic participation and support of the individuals working within the visited facilities. Their embrace of this special initiative from AEGEAN has been instrumental in making this meaningful action a reality.
