There is an important move from the Thailand Tourism Authority (TAT) towards enhancing its future long haul tourism strategy through promoting the commencement of direct flights between Poland and Thailand by LOT Polish Airlines from 7th October 2026. This is indicative of the increased emphasis that Thailand is placing on ensuring that access to its tourist destinations expands beyond the traditional long haul markets towards emerging destinations in Europe.

In preparation for the new route, TAT arranged for a massive familiarization programme and Tabletop Sale in Bangkok where representatives from both countries came to meet and network with the various tourism businesses from Thailand and Poland respectively. Tourism experts believe that the new route is going to be more than a seasonal route for the simple reason that it will build a permanent air connection which is vital for future success.

LOT Polish Airlines Direct Flights Will Reshape Future Thailand and Central Europe Travel Patterns

The launch of direct Warsaw–Bangkok services is expected to significantly reshape future travel patterns between Thailand and Central Europe by reducing travel complexity and improving long-haul accessibility. Previously, many Polish travelers relied on connecting routes through major hubs in Europe or the Middle East to reach Thailand. The new direct service will shorten travel time and create a more seamless tourism experience for both leisure and premium travelers.

Operated by modern Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft with 252 seats, the approximately 10-hour 20-minute route will begin with three weekly flights before expanding to five weekly frequencies during the winter 2026–2027 season. This increase in capacity is expected to stimulate sustained travel demand while encouraging more travelers from neighboring Central European countries to use Warsaw as a gateway to Southeast Asia.

Thailand’s Tourism Industry Gains a Strong Future Growth Engine From Poland

The rapidly growing number of Polish travelers visiting Thailand highlights the long-term economic potential of this emerging tourism market. Official tourism figures show that Thailand welcomed 237,570 visitors from Poland in 2025, marking a growth increase of more than 31 percent compared to 2024. The upward trend has continued strongly in 2026, with arrivals reaching 137,772 travelers between 1 January and 18 May alone.

Tourism authorities expect the new direct air route to further accelerate these numbers over the next several years by increasing convenience, affordability, and destination visibility across Europe. The long-term impact could extend beyond tourism arrivals, helping Thailand strengthen aviation partnerships, hotel investments, regional tourism development, and international travel spending from high-value European travelers.

Bangkok Tabletop Sale Builds Future Travel Trade Partnerships Between Thailand and Poland

The Bangkok Tabletop Sale organized by TAT played a critical role in preparing the tourism industry for the long-term commercial opportunities expected from the new route launch. The event connected Thai tourism suppliers with major Polish travel companies including Almatur, Best Reisen, eSKY, eTravel, Flugo, Hurra, Profitravel, and Weco-travel.

By creating direct business relationships between tourism operators and travel distributors, Thailand aims to build stronger long-term tourism flows rather than relying solely on short-term airline demand. These partnerships are expected to support future package holidays, luxury tourism experiences, wellness tourism products, and regional destination marketing campaigns designed specifically for the growing Central European travel market.

Thailand Showcases Future Ready Tourism Experiences for European Travelers

During the familiarisation programme, Polish travel representatives explored a wide range of tourism experiences designed to position Thailand as a future-ready destination capable of attracting modern international travelers. The programme highlighted Bangkok’s cultural heritage, luxury hospitality, wellness tourism sector, local lifestyle experiences, and modern urban attractions. Delegates visited iconic sites including the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and Pak Khlong Talat, while also participating in canal tours, wellness experiences, flower workshops, and inspections of leading luxury hotels.

Stops at attractions such as ICONSIAM, Yaowarat, and the Mahanakhon SkyWalk demonstrated Thailand’s strategy to combine traditional culture with modern tourism infrastructure. These experiences are expected to strengthen Thailand’s future appeal among younger European travelers seeking immersive and experience-driven holidays.

Future Tourism Revenue Growth Will Support Thailand’s Wider Economy and Hospitality Sector

Tourism officials estimate that the direct Warsaw–Bangkok service could generate approximately 47,000 visitors and contribute nearly 3.196 billion Baht in tourism revenue during the winter 2026–2027 season. Forecasts also project continued growth in the following year, with expected visitor numbers rising to approximately 49,000 travelers and revenue reaching around 3.3 billion Baht during the 2027–2028 winter season.

The future impact of this growth will extend far beyond airlines alone. Increased arrivals from Poland are expected to support Thailand’s hotels, restaurants, transport operators, retail businesses, wellness tourism providers, and regional tourism economies. Long-stay European travelers are particularly valuable because they contribute higher tourism spending while distributing economic benefits across multiple destinations throughout the country.

Polish Travelers Support Thailand’s Long Term Quality Tourism Strategy

Polish tourists are increasingly viewed as a strategic market within Thailand’s long-term tourism development plans because of their travel behavior and spending patterns. On average, travelers from Poland stay in Thailand for approximately 14 days and spend close to 68,800 Baht per trip, significantly supporting the country’s tourism economy. Many visitors also show strong interest in multiple destinations including Bangkok, Krabi, Ko Samui, and Chiang Mai, helping distribute tourism revenue beyond major urban centers.

This aligns closely with Thailand’s future tourism strategy focused on encouraging longer stays, higher-value travel experiences, and stronger regional tourism development. As direct connectivity improves, tourism authorities expect more Polish visitors to explore secondary destinations and participate in wellness tourism, eco-tourism, cultural tourism, and luxury hospitality experiences across Thailand.

Future Air Connectivity Will Strengthen Thailand’s Competitive Position in Europe

In that respect, the introduction of direct LOT Polish Airlines flights will serve to enhance the competitiveness of Thailand with regards to other destinations in the distant markets competing for tourists from Europe. Direct flight connections are very crucial when it comes to the selection of travel destinations since most travelers consider factors such as convenience and fast travel as essential for their journeys.

With the continued development of air connectivity between Thailand and emerging European markets, the country will attract more tourists including luxury travelers, families, wellness tourists, and digital nomads who opt to stay for long periods. In that respect, improved air connections can result in further investments by airlines into the region with the establishment of new flight connections to and from Southeast Asia and Central Europe.
