Thailand Enhances Tourism Safety and Service Standards Through Trusted Thailand, Boosting Traveler Confidence and Supporting Sustainable, High-Value Tourism Growth

As part of the efforts to enhance tourist safety and service quality, the Thailand Tourism of Authority (TAT) has been reinforcing the Trusted Thailand project. This comes after a workshop on National Security Policy held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul at the Government House on 21 May 2026, which underscored the need for collaborative mechanisms in law-abiding tourism.
Coordinated Government Action for Visitor Safety
Thailand’s approach brings together the Ministry of Interior, Royal Thai Police, Ministry of Justice, and national security agencies, working with provincial governors, local authorities, and regional police. Technology and data systems are being leveraged to monitor tourism risks and respond proactively in key destinations, high-risk areas, and major economic districts.
The strategy ensures that tourists enjoy safe travel experiences, while unlawful operators are identified and prevented from undermining visitor confidence or fair competition.
Enforcement Against Unlicensed Tourism Operators
TAT and partner agencies are taking firm action against unlicensed tour operators, nominee businesses, and unlicensed guides. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Tourist Police Bureau, and Department of Business Development are conducting inspections and pursuing legal enforcement to protect travelers and uphold industry integrity.

- Restaurants and dining venues
- Shopping centers and retail complexes
- Recreational facilities and tourist attractions
TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool emphasised that traveller confidence underpins Thailand’s long-term competitiveness, and Trusted Thailand translates national policy into practical, enforceable safety and service standards across the visitor journey.
Building a Tourism Safety Ecosystem
The coordinated measures form a Tourism Safety Ecosystem integrating:
- Visitor protection and emergency preparedness
- Lawful business practices
- Quality service benchmarks
- Proactive communication to tourists
This system enhances long-term tourist safety, ensuring that travelers can explore urban centers, cultural sites, and coastal areas with minimal risk and maximum confidence.
Future Tourism Growth Supported by Safety Measures
By improving tourist safety and service standards, Thailand is preparing for future high-value tourism growth. Key impacts include:
- Increased international visitor arrivals due to elevated trust in Thailand as a safe destination
- Higher average tourist spend, as travelers feel confident engaging in premium accommodations, adventure tours, and cultural experiences
- Expansion of sustainable and high-value tourism markets that prioritize safety and quality
- Boosting regional employment and community-based tourism, underpinned by lawful operations and secure experiences
Tourist safety measures directly influence visitor perceptions and travel behavior, encouraging repeat visitation and long-term engagement with Thai destinations.
Integrating Safety Into Sustainable Tourism
The Trusted Thailand initiative aligns with broader goals of sustainable tourism development, where visitor protection, lawful operations, and quality service converge to create reliable, safe, and environmentally responsible travel experiences. By maintaining safety as a core principle, Thailand is positioning itself as a premium destination for global travelers, particularly in adventure, wellness, and cultural tourism segments.

Communicating Thailand’s Readiness to International Markets
TAT continues to collaborate with government agencies and tourism partners to expand recognized safety and service standards, communicate Thailand’s preparedness internationally, and reinforce its brand as a secure and trustworthy destination. This proactive approach reinforces the country’s position as a trusted destination for leisure travelers, business visitors, and international investors, supporting continued growth in arrivals, spending, and economic impact.
Safety as a Catalyst for Tourism Development
With the aid of Trusted Thailand, measures and government policies, the country is setting the stage for tourism safety in its future. With emphasis on visitor safety, standards, and legality, Thailand not only protects its visitors, but it also boosts the growth of the sector and enhances its potential for sustainability. This incorporation of visitor safety into the country’s strategic plans ensures that it is competitive enough to attract tourists that seek security, consistency, and top-notch experiences in their tours.
