The 26th edition of the “Big World of Ice and Snow” Festival, recognized as the globe’s largest ice-and-snow-themed park, has officially opened in Harbin, China, as reported by Xinhua News.

Creating this frosty wonderland required an impressive 300,000 cubic meters of ice and snow. This year, the park’s design takes inspiration from the 2025 Asian Winter Games, set to be hosted in Harbin. Spanning an unprecedented 1 million square meters, the park’s size has grown by 200,000 square meters compared to last year, setting a new record in the festival’s history.

The park features nine thematic zones, each showcasing iconic landmarks from 42 countries and three regions represented by the Olympic Council of Asia. The structures come alive at night with breathtaking illuminations, creating a magical atmosphere. At the heart of the park stands a towering ice structure adorned with columns symbolizing the emblem of the Olympic Council of Asia.

This year, organizers have expanded the popular skiing area, adding 24 ice slides and introducing a 300-meter heated waiting area with panoramic views of the park. Beyond the classic snow and ice attractions, visitors can immerse themselves in dazzling live performances, cutting-edge VR experiences, and a captivating digital museum.

The “Big World of Ice and Snow” stands as a centerpiece of China’s winter tourism scene, captivating visitors with its breathtaking icy landscapes and creative designs. Last season, the park became a viral sensation on Chinese social media, welcoming over 2.7 million guests.

Harbin is gearing up for another historic moment as it hosts the 9th Asian Winter Games on February 7, 2025. This prestigious event marks China’s first major international winter sports competition since the 2022 Beijing Olympics, solidifying the nation’s prominence in the global winter sports arena.
