The boutique hospitality sectors of France and Greece are being strengthened through two major developments by Accor and its MGallery Collection. A 102-room thalassotherapy retreat has been opened on France’s Atlantic coast, while a 222-room adults-only resort has been planned for Rhodes in Greece. Through these projects, distinctive coastal settings, regional design influences, premium dining and wellness-led guest experiences are being placed at the centre of the brand’s European growth strategy.

The two properties represent separate stages of development. Bel Hotel Oléron Thalasso & Spa – MGallery Collection has already been opened on Île d’Oléron in France, while MGallery Rhodes is scheduled to be launched in spring 2027. The Rhodes property will become the first hotel under the MGallery Collection brand to be established on the Greek island.

MGallery Rhodes to Introduce an Adults-Only Boutique Hotel in Greece

MGallery Rhodes is being developed in partnership with Colossos SA, a family-owned hospitality operator based in Rhodes. The resort will be positioned in the Kallithea area, where views across the Aegean Sea will be offered. Its location and design are expected to connect the property closely with the natural and cultural identity of the island.

A total of 222 guestrooms, suites and bungalows will be included in the resort. Private swimming pools will be provided with many of the accommodation options, allowing greater privacy to be delivered within the adults-only setting. Architectural and interior elements will be influenced by the medieval heritage of Rhodes and the surrounding Mediterranean environment.

Through this approach, the proposed Boutique Hotel will be shaped around local history rather than a standardised resort concept. Rhodes is widely recognised for its fortified architecture and island landscape and these characteristics will be reflected throughout the hotel’s design.

A substantial food and beverage programme will also be introduced. Five restaurants, several bars and a dedicated cocktail venue will be operated across the property. Mediterranean dishes and international cuisine will be served, allowing different dining experiences to be provided without requiring guests to leave the resort.

Wellness and recreation will be supported by a 1,100-square-metre spa. The facility will be developed in collaboration with Swiss skincare brands Valmont and Swiss Perfection. Tennis and padel courts will also be included, extending the leisure offering beyond spa-based treatments.

The Rhodes signing will add another destination to the existing Accor MGallery Collection portfolio in Greece. Properties are already operated by the brand in Athens, Crete and Mykonos, while an additional hotel is being prepared in Samos. The future Rhodes resort will therefore expand the collection’s presence across several of the country’s most established city and island destinations.

France Welcomes a New Atlantic Coast Thalasso Retreat

In France, Bel Hotel Oléron Thalasso & Spa – MGallery Collection has been opened at Plage de Gatseau on Île d’Oléron. The 102-room property has been positioned between a pine forest and the Atlantic Ocean, creating a setting in which the surrounding landscape has been integrated into the guest experience.

A private balcony or terrace has been provided with every room. Natural materials and neutral tones have been used throughout the interiors, allowing the visual identity of the hotel to remain connected with the understated coastal character of the island.

The property has been developed as a wellness-focused Boutique Hotel, with thalassotherapy serving as one of its defining features. Its Spa & Thalasso facility includes 27 treatment rooms, indoor swimming pools, seawater therapies, a sauna and a hammam.

The wellness programme has been developed in partnership with French skincare brand Phytomer. Marine-based treatments and seawater facilities have been placed at the heart of the spa concept, reflecting the property’s position beside the Atlantic Ocean.

Dining has also been treated as an important element of the hotel experience. The culinary concept has been shaped by Michelin-starred chef Pierre Gagnaire. Regional seafood and seasonal produce have been incorporated into the dining approach, ensuring that the menus remain connected with the resources and culinary identity of the surrounding area.

Through its combination of accommodation, coastal design, thalassotherapy and regional dining, the new property has expanded the premium Boutique Hotel offering available on Île d’Oléron. It has also provided MGallery Collection with another wellness-led destination in France.

Accor Advances the Global Expansion of MGallery Collection

Both projects form part of the broader international growth strategy being pursued by Accor for MGallery Collection. More than 125 boutique hotels are currently included in the collection worldwide, while a further 56 properties are being developed.

The portfolio has been structured around individually designed hotels rather than identical properties. At the Rhodes resort, medieval heritage, Mediterranean architecture and Aegean Sea views will be emphasised. At the Île d’Oléron hotel, Atlantic seawater therapies, pine forest surroundings and regional produce have been prioritised.

This location-led approach has allowed two distinct hospitality concepts to be created under the same brand. In Greece, a large adults-only island resort is being planned with private pools, extensive dining venues and sporting facilities. In France, a smaller coastal retreat has been opened with thalassotherapy, marine treatments and nature-inspired interiors.

The developments also demonstrate how wellness is being incorporated across different hotel formats. A large spa supported by Swiss skincare partnerships will be introduced in Rhodes, while a 27-treatment-room thalassotherapy centre has already been established on Île d’Oléron.

With one property now operating and another scheduled for spring 2027, Accor is extending the European reach of its boutique brand through carefully differentiated destinations. The two projects will add new coastal hospitality options in France and Greece, while supporting the continued international expansion of MGallery Collection.
