Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is set to launch the second phase of its vibrant public art program as part of the ongoing DFW Forward capital development project. The program invites a diverse range of artists—local, national, and international—to apply for over a dozen high-profile installation opportunities across the airport’s evolving spaces.

The latest phase focuses on Terminal C, where a series of dynamic, site-specific art commissions will bring new life to the redesigned baggage claim areas. This includes curated exhibits and digital art installations that will change over time, providing passengers with an engaging, ever-evolving cultural experience. It marks the first time DFW will feature rotating art displays, offering a platform for both emerging and established talent, with a particular emphasis on North Texas artists.

Currently, the airport’s art collection includes about 30 permanent pieces, but DFW plans to expand this by 60% over the next six years. This ambitious growth will include 17 new installations across four phases. The airport aims to create spaces that inspire and foster connections, while also celebrating the cultural richness of North Texas for the millions of travelers passing through each year.

The selection process for the initial phase, which covers two locations in Terminal C, is underway. As the program progresses, future calls will introduce new types of art, including suspended installations, sculptures, and interactive digital experiences. Each call will encourage submissions from artists at various stages of their careers, from rising stars to renowned figures in the art world.

MASSIVart, a global art consultancy and production agency, is overseeing the artist selection process, with support from a panel of respected North Texas art professionals. Interested artists can learn more or submit their work via the Art at DFW website, with additional calls expected in the coming months.

With this initiative, DFW Airport is not only enhancing the aesthetics of its terminals but also providing a platform for meaningful artistic expression, offering travelers an inspiring cultural experience at every turn.
