Australia Business Travellers Could Earn Up to 500,000 Qantas Points Through New Westpac Loan Offer

Australian business travellers will soon have a new way to collect airline rewards through borrowing rather than flights. From 13 October 2026, the Westpac Business Loan offer will allow eligible businesses to earn up to 500,000 Qantas Points on approved variable-rate loans.
The promotion, available until 12 April 2027, links business finance with Qantas Business Rewards, a programme serving more than 700,000 members. Applications will remain subject to standard lending approval, while Qantas Business Rewards membership and other conditions will also apply. The announcement also accompanies enhanced Westpac credit card rewards for eligible individual customers across Australia under the partnership.

How the Westpac Business Loan Offer Awards Qantas Points
Under the forthcoming arrangement, one Qantas Point will be awarded for every AUD 2 of approved loan limit. A business granted an eligible AUD 350,000 facility could therefore receive 175,000 points. The maximum reward of 500,000 points corresponds to an approved loan limit of AUD 1 million, which is also the upper boundary for eligible borrowing.
A loan approved at the minimum eligible limit of AUD 20,000 would generate 10,000 Qantas Points under the stated formula.

Loan Eligibility, Dates and Financial Conditions
The Westpac Business Loan offer will apply only to new Westpac Business Loan – Variable products. Approved loan limits must be between AUD 20,000 and AUD 1 million. Customers must belong to Qantas Business Rewards, and the promotion cannot be combined with other offers, discounts or waivers.
These rules matter because the published reward is linked to the approved loan limit, not the number of flights taken. They also distinguish a potential points benefit from the separate decision to borrow. Standard lending approval requirements, credit criteria, charges, fees, exclusions and other conditions will still apply.

The promotion is scheduled to run from 13 October 2026 to 12 April 2027. Westpac has stated that further details will be provided when it launches.
Qantas Business Rewards Connects Australian Business Banking With Travel
Qantas Business Rewards serves more than 700,000 Australian small and medium-sized business members. Through its network of over 50 partners, eligible firms can earn points on business expenses covering flights, fuel, energy bills and credit card spending. Flight savings are also available through the programme.

For companies examining how to earn Qantas Points Australia-wide, the lending promotion adds a further qualifying activity: taking out an eligible new business loan. However, borrowing is not required to participate in the broader loyalty programme, which already provides other ways to collect points.
Unlike the credit card promotion, the business loan arrangement is limited to qualifying Australian organisations enrolled in Qantas Business Rewards.
Westpac’s business and wealth chief executive, Paul Fowler, said business customers had previously had fewer opportunities to receive loyalty benefits through their banking relationships than through personal spending. The new arrangement was presented as another way for businesses planning investments or managing cash flow to gain value from eligible banking products.
Qantas Points for business travellers may be earned through a qualifying business loan, provided programme and lending requirements are met.

Westpac Credit Card Rewards Add More Qantas Travel Benefits
The lending promotion forms part of a wider expansion of Westpac’s relationship with Qantas Loyalty. Separately, the Altitude Qantas Black credit card offer has been extended. Eligible new cardholders who meet applicable minimum spending requirements can earn up to 150,000 bonus Qantas Points and, for the first time under this offer, 50 Status Credits.
Status Credits are used to progress through Qantas Frequent Flyer tiers: Silver, Gold, Platinum and Platinum One. Higher tiers can provide premium travel benefits, including access, where eligible, to a worldwide network of more than 650 Qantas and partner lounges.
Credit card points can be redeemed for flights across more than 1,300 destinations served by Qantas and 30 partner airlines. Flight upgrades and hotel stays are also among the stated redemption options. These card benefits are separate from the business lending reward.
Qantas Loyalty and Customer chief executive Andrew Glance said members had redeemed more than 10 million rewards over the previous year. He also reported double-digit growth in new Qantas cards issued this quarter compared with the same quarter last year.
Westpac consumer chief executive Carolyn McCann linked the extended card promotion to customer interest in rewards and wider market changes. For those aiming to earn Qantas Points Australia-wide, the options carry separate conditions. Qantas Points for business travellers must therefore be assessed under the relevant programme’s rules.
What Australia’s Business Travellers Should Know
The Westpac Business Loan offer introduces a defined points opportunity for eligible Australian businesses from 13 October 2026. Up to 500,000 Qantas Points may be earned on approved variable-rate lending, with one point allocated for each AUD 2 of loan limit. Qantas Business Rewards membership is essential and the offer will end on 12 April 2027.
Separately, eligible new Altitude Qantas Black cardholders may qualify for bonus points and Status Credits after meeting spending conditions. For business travellers, the distinction is important: borrowing rewards and personal card benefits operate under different rules. Both offers remain subject to their respective terms.
