Eyja Guldsmeden, first certified by Green Globe in 2018, has once again declared its sustainability credentials with recertification in 2023.Linda Jóhannsdóttir and Ellert Finnbogason are the co-owners of Eyja Guldsmeden based in Reykjavik, this business is an eco-conscious, boutique hotel developed by an extensive design sensibility. As it’s a family-owned business, there is a great stress on first-class service.

Guests while entering the hotel lobby, instantly understands Eyja Guldsmeden’s successful marriage of style, service, and sustainability. Exemplifying this aura is the antique chesterfield sofa suite, ageing elegantly with no intention of being overthrown by modern fast-furniture fashion.

Linda says that they choose to beautify outside of trends, as they are not willing to exchange usable furniture. On the contrary, use the furniture until it’s worn-out. So, natural materials are given importance as they age with beauty and can bear a little wear and tear with elan. 

Eyja Guldsmedens’ contemplation with food and beverage holds close the needs of the guests with those of the local community and the planet. The hotel has lessened the supplier number to only a few local businesses, thus dipping the number and rate of deliveries, and eventually saving CO2.
