The 44th international tourism fair, FITUR 2024 concluded its highly successful edition, setting new records in attendance and reinforcing its global influence. With a total of 250,000 participants, including 153,000 professionals and 97,000 general public visitors, FITUR 2024 saw a remarkable 13.7% increase compared to the previous year. FITUR 2024, organized by IFEMA MADRID, showcased the robust growth experienced by the global tourism sector in the past year, laying the foundation for its continued expansion in 2024.

Record-breaking Figures and International Character
FITUR 2024 not only broke records in terms of attendance but also set a new benchmark for exhibition space. FITUR 2024 occupied a total of nine pavilions, one more than in 2023, highlighting the increased interest and participation from the tourism industry. The international character of FITUR 2024 was evident with the presence of 152 countries and 96 official representations, further solidifying its global influence.

Exhibition Space: FITUR 2024 hosts in nine pavilions, breaking the previous year’s record and providing ample space for exhibitors to display their offerings.


Monographic Sections: FITUR 2024 featured 10 monographic sections focusing on various tourist segments, including FITUR 4all, TechY, Cruises, Know-How & Export, LGTB+, Lingua, Screen, Sports, Talent, and Woman, contributing to a comprehensive representation of the industry.

FITURNEXT Observatory: Emphasizing sustainability, the FITURNEXT Observatory served as a platform for the fair’s commitment to sustainable practices in international tourism.

Economic Impact and Revenue Generation
In addition to its success in terms of attendance and international representation, FITUR 2024 is expected to generate approximately 430 million euros in revenue for Madrid. The economic impact underscores the significance of tourism events like FITUR 2024 in contributing to the local economy.

Strong Institutional and Sector Support
FITUR 2024 received significant support from both the tourism sector and various institutions. The Royal Family, with the presence of Their Majesties King Felipe and Queen Letizia, demonstrated their commitment to the industry. Prominent leaders, including Daniel Noboa, President of Ecuador, and the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, actively participated. FITUR 2024 brought together nearly 400 authorities, including Ministers, State Secretaries, ambassadors, business representatives, and mayors from different regions.

Media Coverage and Social Media Impact
The success of FITUR 2024 was not limited to its physical presence but also extended to media and social media coverage. With over 37,000 news articles published about the event and the presence of nearly 6,800 accredited journalists, FITUR gained extensive media attention. Social media platforms witnessed a surge in followers, with a growth of 10,602 followers in the first two days. The fair’s posts reached a wide audience, generating nearly 6.5 million impressions and 83,000 interactions. FITUR’s website also experienced high traffic, with approximately one million visits.

Looking Ahead to FITUR 2025
IFEMA MADRID has already set the stage for the next edition, announcing that FITUR 2025 will take place from January 22 to 26. Mexico is poised to take over as the Country Partner, ensuring a continued global representation and collaboration within the international tourism sector.
