Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris, renowned for its 6 Michelin stars and unique wine collection, features rare vintages like a 1795 Madeira.

In 2024, the Wine Spectator’s Restaurant Awards distinguished the wine programs at the 3-Michelin star Le Cinq and Michelin-starred Le George with the “Best of Awards of Excellence.” This recognition secures the Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris, as the sole five-star hotel globally to achieve a cumulative four glasses rating.

Convened by an esteemed international panel, the Wine Spectator’s Restaurant Awards celebrate dining establishments that feature wine lists with captivating selections that harmonize with their menus and cater to diverse wine aficionados. The awards range from the one-glass Award of Excellence to the three-glass Grand Award, celebrating the sommeliers’ commitment to maintaining exceptional wine offerings that elevate the dining experience. Particularly, the two-glass Best of Award of Excellence rewards those restaurants that demonstrate an enhanced dedication to wine, including ongoing staff training and comprehensive wine sourcing. These selected restaurants present around 350 or more meticulously chosen wines, showcasing premier producers and a broad spectrum of regions and vintages.

Jean Claude Wietzel, Vice President, General Manager at Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris comments, “We are particularly honoured to have been recognized by the famous Wine Spectator for the excellence of our wine lists. This is thanks to the hard work of our talented team of 15 sommeliers, male and female, led by award-wining Eric Beaumard at our 3 Michelin-star restaurant Le Cinq, and Francesco Cosci, awarded Best Sommelier of Italy, at Le George restaurant. Together, they bring a wealth of knowledge and passion for wine, providing an unparalleled experience to our Hotel’s guests, from amateurs to wine connoisseurs alike.”

Famed as a premier culinary hub, the Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris stands out with its trio of Michelin-starred restaurants, accumulating an unmatched six stars, the highest in Europe. The hotel is equally celebrated for its exceptional wine program. Eric Beaumard and Francesco Cosci, despite their varied origins, are united in their dedication to the hotel’s ethos of embracing terroir diversity. They prioritize featuring family-owned wineries and estates dedicated to sustainable practices. Their philosophy extends to cultivating strong connections with vintners, often highlighted by regular visits to the vineyards and showcasing the stories of the people behind the wines served.

The hotel’s wine cellar, housing nearly 50,000 bottles, ranks among the world’s most prestigious collections. It holds an impressive spectrum of top-tier French wines and the broadest assortment of Italian wines in France, forming a rich and varied compilation. Notable for its historical depth, including a Madeira from 1795, the cellar contains approximately 2,200 wines from France and beyond, all kept in ideal conditions. This exceptional collection, a testament to the world’s leading wine regions, greatly enhances the dining experience at the hotel’s acclaimed restaurants: Le Cinq, L’Orangerie, and Le George.
