G20 meeting acts as a catalyst for tourism revival

After some long gap, at last the jinx has been broken as international tourists have started returning in huge numbers once again to revitalize their longstanding bond with Kashmir, their favorite tourist destination.


Also, from May 22 nd to May 25 th , a winning tourism working group meeting of G20 delegates was organized in the capital i.e. Srinagar, which proved to be a turning point for J&K tourism.


According to a top tourism official, KNO reported, from January to June 19, 2023, almost 15161 tourists from abroad have visited J&K. Appropriately, as per the figures available officially, in 2022, almost 4028 tourists from foreign countries had visited Kashmir between January to June.


The official also stated that the G-20 Tourism Working group meeting, which was extremely flourishing, is probably to be a game changer in the J&K tourism. He said that in the G20 event, the charm and splendor
together with the affection and warmth of J&K were depicted on a global level. This undoubtedly would draw greater number of tourists from abroad to J&K, he said.


The Tourism department officials said that on May 22 to 25, the G-20 working group meeting arranged in Srinagar is set to provide good results as greater number of foreign tourists are hoped to reach Kashmir in the forthcoming months i.e. July, August and September.
