Thwaites has introduced Lister Farmhouse, a new boutique accommodation offering featuring 13 individually designed country bedrooms in Malham, North Yorkshire, after restoring part of a historic 19th-century coaching inn.

Located in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, Lister Farmhouse becomes the latest addition to Thwaites’ growing Lister collection in Malham. The development complements The Lister Arms and Lister Barn, creating a wider hospitality experience that combines traditional inn charm, countryside accommodation and larger group stays.

The new property provides guests with a range of room options, including family-friendly accommodation, making it suitable for couples, walkers, families and visitors looking for a peaceful rural escape.

The transformation of Lister Farmhouse was guided by interior designer Jane Goff of Goff Associates, known for creating distinctive hospitality spaces including the interiors at Langdale Chase on Lake Windermere. The design approach focuses on celebrating the building’s heritage while bringing modern comfort and luxury touches to the guest experience.

Each of the 13 bedrooms has been individually styled to capture the atmosphere of the surrounding Yorkshire landscape. The interiors feature carefully selected materials, textured finishes, custom-made furniture and high-quality details designed to create a warm and welcoming countryside retreat.

The location offers direct access to some of the Yorkshire Dales’ most famous natural attractions. Visitors staying at Lister Farmhouse can explore scenic walking trails and iconic landmarks such as Janet’s Foss waterfall, Gordale Scar, Malham Tarn and Malham Cove. The destination continues to attract outdoor enthusiasts, nature lovers and travellers seeking authentic rural experiences.

As part of the renovation, the property has also been upgraded with air-conditioning systems. The addition provides extra comfort during warmer months, particularly for guests returning after long days exploring the surrounding walking routes and countryside landscapes.

Alongside the new accommodation, Thwaites has strengthened its food and beverage offering across its Malham venues with the appointment of a new executive head chef. The culinary programme will cover dining experiences at The Lister Arms and The Buck village pub.

The Lister Arms will continue to offer seasonal interpretations of traditional British favourites, supported by regularly changing specials showcasing fresh ingredients. Meanwhile, The Buck will provide a more relaxed pub atmosphere, serving classic home-cooked meals, local ales and refreshments for families, walkers and visitors looking to unwind after exploring the Dales.
