Kaunas will welcome September with one of the largest contemporary city festivals in Lithuania AUDRA Festival 2026 will be held on 3-6 September. The four-day festival will deliver electronic music, live shows, contemporary art and nightlife into the streets and venues of Lithuania’s second-largest city.

According to Kaunas City Municipality, the festival will mark its fifth edition, featuring over 50 performers and collectives. This is not a typical festival that would take place in one confined space; instead, AUDRA takes over the city space, with a diverse and multi-faceted programme in industrial areas, courtyards and cultural spaces, parts of which can be attended for free.

This makes AUDRA more than just a music trip for visitors. You will have a chance to mix attending festival events with exploring Kaunas’ medieval Old Town, its modernist architecture, world-class museums, street art and the city’s most popular cultural sites.

AUDRA Festival Runs Across Kaunas From 3 to 6 September

The festival begins on Thursday, 3 September, with a free opening programme centred around the courtyard of the M. Žilinskas Art Gallery.

The opening programme includes eioo, Fundamental, Monika Seta x Interiors and Pletnev. Tikiman will also perform with Richard Akingbehin, a founder of Berlin community radio station Refuge Worldwide.

The programme then moves towards the more intense electronic side of AUDRA.

On Friday, the Pergalė factory becomes a major festival location. The industrial setting will host a programme connecting established house music with contemporary European club culture.

Chez Damier, Chloé Caillet, DJ JM, Marta, MCR-T and SPFDJ are among the performers announced for Friday. Lithuanian and international artists will share the programme, helping AUDRA maintain its connection between Kaunas’ creative community and the wider European electronic music scene.

Saturday Brings Free Shows and Late-Night Electronic Music

Saturday expands the festival further.

Daytime activity will move into the Pergalė factory courtyard and other nearby spaces. Festival organisers have planned two free stages. The live music programme includes ba., Egzotikka, Garbanotas and shishi, while another stage will feature electronic artists including Kikelomo.

The atmosphere changes again after dark.

Free Finga and kamanių šilelis will perform during the evening before the festival moves deeper into its late-night programme. The limited-capacity Dresden Dancecase will bring together Francesco Del Garda, Saoirse and Aistė Regina x Donatas Chipak alongside Dresden, the collaboration involving Ivan Smagghe and Lithuanian electronic music figure Manfredas.

This changing programme makes AUDRA particularly useful for travellers who want different experiences during one city break. Visitors can attend daytime performances before moving towards club-focused events later in the evening.

Contemporary Art Adds Another Layer to AUDRA

Music forms the centre of AUDRA, but the festival also places contemporary art within its urban programme.

Berlin-based curatorial group MOLT will oversee an exhibition called Treasure House at the Pergalė factory. The project will bring together Lithuanian and international artists while using an industrial building as part of the artistic experience.

This approach connects closely with Kaunas itself. The city has developed a strong identity around architecture, visual culture and creative urban spaces.

Lithuania’s official tourism organisation highlights Kaunas for its street art, museums, Old Town and distinctive Interwar Modernist architecture. The city also served as the European Capital of Culture in 2022.

Visitors can also explore the M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art, the Aleksotas Observation Deck and Kaunas’ extensive street-art scene. The city’s Interwar Modernist buildings provide another strong reason to explore on foot.

Laisvės Avenue offers another useful area for visitors who want cafés, restaurants and an introduction to everyday city life. The national tourism organisation describes the avenue as Kaunas’ main thoroughfare and recommends it as part of a wider city visit.

Travellers should plan around the festival’s multi-location format. AUDRA does not operate like an event where visitors remain inside one festival field throughout the day. Checking the location and start time of each chosen performance before travelling across Kaunas can therefore save considerable time.

Visitors arriving by air can use Kaunas Airport, while Lithuania’s official tourism portal also notes that Kaunas can be reached by bus and train.

Accommodation close to central Kaunas can make sightseeing easier during the day while giving visitors access to restaurants and other city services. However, travellers attending late-night performances should also check how they plan to return to their accommodation after individual events finish.
